I want to lift my 2015 Texas Edition Taco with stock all-terrain tires, but don't know what I'm doing. I've looked at the FAQ guide and several sites like skyjacker and have a little bit of an understanding, but don't quite get how people are able to get lifts beyond about 2.5". Are blocks and leafs able to be added together? And shocks? Further, I don't know what kind of lift would be best for me. I'd like to go off-roading every now and then, but certainly have no intentions to make a sport of it. I mainly use my truck for commute or for hauling a trailer. I want to lift the truck about 4-6", but I'm not sure how to best go about doing that. Mostly just want the lift for the looks (which, I personally do not like the bulldog look), and maybe a smoother ride with the right shocks. What should I do?

For 4-6" you're looking at a drop bracket kit such as Rough Country or the like. Just know that lifting to this range with the required components comes with a lot of headache. Good luck on the install with whatever you decide.

It's a 4x4. Is a 4-6" lift just a headache to install? What would be a better lift size then?

2-3 inch lifts will be the easiest on your components. You shouldn't have to do much in this range. Most anything over this will require a lot more work.

For 4WD, Drop bracket lifts require cutting a crossmember out. Drop brackets are the only way to achieve 4"-6" too.

Otherwise you're pretty close to being stuck at 3" of lift since anything above that will ruin your CV axles due to a high angle.
