Works great. Suction cup has stayed put for month or more left in my car. Got another Xgrip so I don't disturb the truck setup. Have short ext, long ext, swivel ext, gps holder and go pro mount.....covers my needs.

Thinking of adding a second battery...

It can be for anything! I am planning on using it for the GPS, dash cam, GoPRO or whatever the wife and mistress want to use it for...:D Maybe a Starbucks cup holder..... I will be adding the same RAM units to the passenger side. For me, I think is not too high but YMMV depending on your needs.

Nope. Thought about it but I'd rather put my money on other toys... I really think I have no use for it. Got enough going between my amateur radio, iPhone, GPS... might add a PC or iPad for map usage...

I'm interested now because I may put one over on the passenger side A-pillar for a more secure mount for my dashcam. I have a super cheapo one with a window suction cup (I know, I know) so the possibility to put it out of the way and not have it come off when the window gets hot or I get onto an aggressive trail is a plus.

/I will have to jerry rig up a holder for the actual camera though, or modify the one with the cup...

I have one on the passenger side because the Handbrake demanded her own once she saw mine on the drivers side.

That seems like if you have both mounted it's gonna block your view?

Seems that way...But I do not think so. Will take the trk for a spin and see. Now, if I was in a full size trk, it will be totally different. So far, looks fine to me

Easy way to check if you're obstructing your view:
Put the visor down. If anything hangs below it = your view is definitely being taken up by the components.
Not saying it's "bad" for you, but I would be uncomfortable with having anything between the dash and bottom of the visor when I'm driving. YMMV

On a time crunch, so I haven't been able to sift through the thread, but has anyone had the misfortune to know if this interferes with the A-pillar airbag at all?

All things withstanding, this looks like $$$$

Ever since I first saw this, I thought it was a great idea! But, I also thought I really didn't have any use for it, as I have a TechDeck on the center stack, and it works great.

    My, my, how things change...

For navigation, I now use an iPad with Gaia. But, never one to be ill-prepared, I picked up a new Garmin 64st (for a really, really good price) to use as a backup. (I am hesitant to rely solely on an app-based device that requires rechargeable batteries - but that is another issue.)

Now, all of the sudden, the TechDeck is not enough.

Here is my normal, DD setup - phone on TechDeck, nothing else. (Ignore the X-Grip on the passenger side - we are about to go on a trip.)

    rm1.jpg

Here is the nav station, fully set up.

    rm2.jpg

As it sits, I can still read the stereo display (how nice are steering wheel controls?!) and grab the CB mike under the iPad.

Of course, you don't see external power cables in this picture.

And a shot across the cab, showing the passenger side. Of course, my co-driver/navigator wanted one, too! Truth be told, my nav has an iPad, too - and almost constantly uses it while we are driving. The two phones act as hot spots when needed.

    rm3.jpg

Again, great idea OP. Thank you!
