I took my bedliner out a few months ago and found this paint rubbing. I am moving out of my house soon and want to fix this before apartment living. How do I go about fixing small spots down to metal? Steps would be great! Doesn't need to be show room quality but pretty well blendedish. All with spray cans. Do I tape a square around the spot and sand down that whole area and then spray?

    Thanks!

Other pros will probably chime in, but I guess that would work. I can't recommend clear coat because I just found out that Toyota uses single stage paints on their non-metalic paint jobs. You'd probably be better off with a factory color matched paint, and I think they come in spray cans.

Yeah I have some duplicolor lunar mist, just looking for steps on how to paint a small area. I was thinking bedlining the rails but won't do that for awhile/ the big rub goes further down than I'd want

Gotchya. Here's a good video to get you started.

From recently painting my motorcycle, go LIGHT on the primer, and make sure each coat flashes off completely before applying the next coat, or else you'll get runs.

Unless you plan on redoing the whole panel then go with a paint pen. Make sure you give ample time to cure and then try a wet sand to blend. I recommend this and not a rattle can. You will just make a mess and likely leave a more noticable flaw.

PS you will have to clear coat if you sand and repaint the whole panel. Silver is NOT a single stage paint.
