Sounds like you got a good direction for your ride. With your stock shocks, they are NOT rebuildable and are constructed differently. I wouldn't worry about having to maintain your stock suspension unless you see corroded metal in the springs or something to where you think there could be a failure which is rare. Given you got 67k on your truck, I would say the stock suspension is good in terms of maintenance as to be honest there isn't much you can do for them anyway with being limited in no adjustments and stuff.

OME maintenance is similar to your stock suspension in that it doesn't have much adjustability, but also doesn't require a rebuild either. Now, if you got the OME internal bypass coilovers for the front, then I think those are rebuildable. I think sticking with OME or bilstein will be a good avenue for you as those systems can work well for all around driving.

Thanks all... had the truck up on a lift today (dealership for some issues I had hoped were small) and it turns out that my Taco is rusting out from underneath me. :bananadead:

The mechanic didn't even want me to drive it home... which may be partly high-pressure sales tactics, but I saw the rust myself and it is bad. I am probably going to just buy a new (to me) truck instead of putting work into this one. So, anyone have recommendations for a replacement?

Thanks for the offer; I'll keep you in mind if I decide I need anything for the future vehicle!

Just put some Fox 2.0's coilovers and rear Billstein shocks. I hear the Fox 2.0's rear shocks are great, and I know that my ride is SO much better than it was. The rear shocks are super easy to install, just a couple bolts each. The front ones are also doable, but any car mechanic should be able to install from coilovers.

I'm also in the process of de-rusting and painting my rust frame

Man tough break maybe you can a solid deal I know Killeen gets a bad rep but the bigger dealerships give good deals. I got mine at Beasley Mazda for a good deal not high pressure sales an was a quick process for from signing till I rolled out maybe 45 min total. Also got a surprising amount on my trade in.
