    I agree.

I realize this is off the subject a little bit but we were in D.C. back in March and this is the actual guitar that Jimi Hendrix played the Star Spangled Banner on during Woodstock. I stood there for a good 30 mins just taking in every detail and realizing how significant this was

I forgot how good that song was...and as I'm listening/watching the video one can't help thinking "how weird and possibly forboding."

Some people take their own life because they think their life won't be as good in the future as it was in the past.

Sometimes the people close to them say things like "he had everything to live for...he just got a raise...he just got back from vacation...[fill in the blank]"

I don't understand how someone could get locked into that way of thinking but depression and/or dependency on alcohol/drugs doesn't help. It probably helps to create the feelings that lead up to suicide.

Add to the fact that when you are a rockstar, your highs are really high...especially after a concert. It's a weird kind of energy/adrenaline rush that sometimes can take hours to come down from. They have to learn how to cope with that and I'm sure it can take it's toll.

Depression takes on many forms. I do not know the type of depression Chris must have suffered from. But from reading a few articles today I know he fought alcoholism / drug abuse for many years. He got himself clean and that is admirable. But speaking from some experience I can assure you that the demons are still there. I've been clean and sober for going on 6 years now and although I don't suffer the depression that Chris apparently did, the demons never truly go away. All I can think of is his were more powerful than he could handle and they finally got the better of him. I might be assuming too much since you never truly know what is going on in others minds but that's just my take on this sad story.

No matter what... His family and friends lost a great person and we, the fans, lost a great talent that can not be replaced.

It's overall a shit situation for his family and everyone around him but if he felt as though he was blocking their happiness or "casting a black shadow" over their lives he did what he thought was best, in the frame of mind he was in.

Several of his songs have very dark undertones and possibly foreshadowed an ultimate end... One thing that strikes a chord to me is his final song of the night "In My Time of Dying"..an old Zeppelin cover that was once one of my favorite songs I don't think I'll be able to ever listen to again without thinking about his suicide.

Yeah, anyone who writes songs titled" Pretty Noose", "Fell On Black Days", "Black Hole Sun", "Like Suicide", etc has probably spent a little bit of time thinking about killing themselves. All it might have taken was a small amount of anxiety-drug imbalance to push him over the edge, as his wife has suggested. So very sad.
