I didn't even want a new truck, my 2004 Tundra was in great shape. I fell in love with the looks of the Third generation and had to have one. No regrets yet! I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but the 2nd generation is ugly to me.

I love mine. If you want to see some crazy stuff go read f150 forums and dodge etc chevy. You will see what some of the forum paranoia causes. Also most people who dont have problems dont go to forums. Just my 2 cents

I am happy with my truck. In five years when I look at other 2017's from the competition I am pretty confident I will still feel I made a good decision and maybe more so. The big three will be showing their issues by then and I think the Tacoma will be dialing out the last of the major issues.

Realistically my ONLY complaint with the truck is cruise control and not upshifting back to sixth when I feel the load (wind, hills etc) is light enough to justify it. Everything else is tits. Everyone I know who has never really looked closely at a Tacoma loves mine. The in bed rails and tie down points. The inverter. The more they look at my truck the more they find to love.

I find most of the complainants of the 3rd gen are from:
People who should have bought a V8 or full size.
Long time Tacoma owners who have selective memory and love the older gens and forgot the issues with them.
People who overspent and are so maxed that they can't afford to trade for something else. Some are too cheap and don't want to take a hit.
People who do not understand that a warrantee is not a guarantee your truck will be problem free - it means that you have a process to fix the issues that may arise from flaws or untimely failures.
There are others who will always have drama in their lives even if things are perfect and better than expected. They will make drama when there is none just to have something to bitch about.

Fingers crossed that all of us loving our trucks will continue to be problem free and any issues are dealt with professionally by Toyota as they arise and solutions found.

Every morning when I walk outside to get in my truck it puts a smile on my face. I liked my 2nd Gen, but I love my 3rd Gen. It has so many features and creature comforts that my old truck did not have.

Good to see some love for the third gens. I like all gens personally. If they were the same that would be boring. I couldn't afford first gen. Finally could when I got my second gen as my Dodge was done and a POS. If the the new model has been out I would be in it.

I will add my comment, Just got off a 2700 mile trip with another couple interstate speeds between 70 & 80 mph lowest mpg 17 @ 3000-5200 rpm in higher winds going through hills with a 1100lb payload it was very comfortable. My brother-in-law was impressed with the ride and mileage. The highest mpg was 23.1. I went to this model because my gen 1 was totaled, other than the trans fluid and tsb's issues its a really nice truck. My gen 1 had coolant problems 4 water pumps , a transfer pipe under the intake in 115000, out of the blue it also pissed 3qts of trans fluid out after the dealer had it for shifting issue @29000 had it towed back refilled and nothing after that and I couldn't have spent that long in that truck with out my ass going numb. I think this is a keeper. Went from a Gen1 04 DBCB TRD SR5 V6 AT to 16 SR DCB SB V6 AT and I like it and even better 6/30/17 when I'm not sharing it with the bank.

When people post negative stuff about the 3rd Gen, I wonder how can my 16 Taco be so great and these other people are constantly complaining about theirs. How are they having all these problems and I have none? My truck is a fun truck. We all have different tastes, buy the one you like, enjoy it, but don't spend your time whining that you don't like the 3rd Gen. You'll never convince me my 16 Taco is not a great truck. Also looking forward to the 4th, 5th, 6th Gens....etc...

I'm convinced that a lot of people complain just to complain. Was the transmission perfect when I bought it? No. Did Toyota fix it ASAP? Yep!

I used to drive Rangers and Jeeps prior to buying my 16 OR. Granted I enjoyed the way those vehicles shifted more than my Tacoma, but I could never say that after a long day of trail running, rock crawling, and other shenanigans, that I'm still averaging 20 mpg in any of those vehicles. Not only am I more confident in the Tacoma's build (Toyota reliability), but my range has skyrocketed BECAUSE of the updated technology (Atkins and tranny). I will gladly take some weird shift points for reliability, durability, and great MPGs.

If it means anything, I have 21k miles. I noticed a behavior change once the tranny TSB was done, then another change after about 15k miles. Truck drives like a dream

I love my truck and have had no problems with it. I did not even look at any other brand when I bought this truck (2017 trdsportdcsb4x4at).This is Toyota number 7 so I have tunnel vision.I don't sell or trade much. My only concern is the tranny will it last. I bought this truck for the long term but with all the shifting it does thats alot of wear and tear it has me worried. This dang website has me perinoid!

I love mine, the tranny TSB took care of the issues and occasionally the CD player doesn't eject but I changed to a thumbdrive, so all is well...

I must admit I like Toyotas too. Two pre-Tacos, 1st gen Taco, 3 2nd gen Tacos, 1st gen Tundra, 2 2nd gen Tundras, t-100, 4Runner. I've had Chivy's, Dodges, and a Ford a long time ago. I really like my '17 and it is running great. Will do the TSB and check tranny fluid level when I have my first shop visit. Rear diff is dry, no vibrations, and the CD player works fine. And Sternthology every day. Hopefully all the computers in the dang thing will last. If they do, I might just be buried in this thing.
