Has anyone else received a letter from Toyota called Product Quality Survey with a site address of toyotaquality.com ? it lists a unique PIN: # under the site address and asks me to answer questions about my new vehicle. I tried going to the site but the results look odd and so I tried typing the site into the address bar of my browser. The message comes back that this is an insecure site and the site is not configure correctly.

The letter seems to be from Toyota (letterhead and signed as Toyota Motor Sales, USA) but it references my local dealership info and says to contact them listing their phone# if I want to speak to someone about problems.
makes me wonder Is this spam or legit? Why wouldn't Toyota have configured their own survey site correctly and made it insecure if it is their website....

click on the lock icon on your browser and post the results here

You could also try to add an "s" to the http:// (https://)

It's smart to be cautious when stuff like this happens, but it could be a legit site. Browsers are getting better at security and at alerting users when they are going to a site that isn't using a secure connection. Maybe Toyota didn't think the survey results needed to be encrypted? It's bad form on their part. As for you: all of the info you type in will be visible to anyone looking. So treat it like a postcard not a letter wrapped in an envelope (ie dont put in passwords, cc info, personally identifiable info, etc)

Toyota owns the toyota.com top level domain. Any legitimate subdomains or websites would be under that (i.e. quality.toyota.com or toyota.com/quality).

Most companies use a third party survey company to collect this information. Toyota probably does not run this survey site internally, they just rely on an external web site provider which will in turn report results to Toyota.
Just do not put any personal info in there and you should be fine.
Its just a survey, you will not get anything for doing it and you will not get punished for not doing it. When I bought my wife her Rav4 I did not do any of the surveys, but our salesman was an outstanding guy, so I went to the Sales Manager directly and told him how our experience was and that our salesman should get something in return.
So, if someone or something from your dealership stood out as exceptional or not so good, inform them directly, its likely to get more attention than a survey online.
Also, they send the survey out not long after purchasing a vehicle and want to ask you about quality. You haven't had a chance to experience long term quality yet and you are still excited from the newness and are more likely to give high marks, send me a survey after 3 years of owning said vehicle, then I will grade your quality.

What browser are you using? Chrome automatically using https://toyotaquality.com/ which has a legit, valid certificate. So if you use that link it will be secured.

Most people get those surveys. I filled one out.

I edited my original top post and added the page results I got, it is in Firefox. I just thought this was weird because I did report a problem to Toyota when I called their cust svc line 3 weeks ago after going to my dealership for something.
    Thanks for all your replies!

Everyone I dealt with at the dealer told me over and over that these surveys can greatly affect their pay. The three people asked me to please give them 10's on every question or they could lose money. I have not received a survey yet but honestly I don't feel anyone deserved a 10. My original salesman I had been in contact with for a month via email, handed me off to his "partner". Then they sold the truck I'd been looking at but had another one exactly like it but a different color. I'm NOT blaming them for this, but I'm blaming them for dragging me all over the lot trying to push me into a something I didn't want. Then I waited 1 1/2 hours to see the contract guy ( it's an extremely busy dealer but they should hire more people). Then I was lied to about HomeLink. It stated in their ad, which is what I based my purchase on, that the TRD OR edition came with HomeLink. It doesn't. I told them, after the purchase and after I got home ad found it wasn't included, that I wanted a HomeLink mirror. They lied and said the OEM mirror that comes with the Limited edition would NOT just plug and play. Since, I've found out it will. So they bought some after market mirror, cut the wires instead of just plugging it in. The after market mirror was cheaper than the OEM mirror, but it does work fine. It's just the principle that pisses me off. I've complained but nothing will be done. And they are still listing TRD OR in their ads that they come with HomeLink. I wonder how many customer don't even realize they are not getting a feature that IS listed in their advertising? A month ago they said they were going to fix their ads, but every new truck they get on the lot still offers HomeLink. This is a perfect example of false advertising in my opinion.

That's was probably an issue with the server's SSL certificate. Not ideal in a production environment, but pretty common to see. Site works fine now and I see nothing to suggest it's any sort of scam.
