...^^^... I just love that aircraft and its' CAS mission.

If I could fly fixed wing today in the US military ... it would be in an A-10.

Got the valve train, intake tubes, and oil return lines installed and am now at a stopping point until I can get a longer push rod. I guess we can actually start the annual inspection while we wait on that! This has been a super fun project. It'll be even cooler once it runs :D

    Cardinal update:

Annual inspection is done for the most part, so now I am beginning to close up the airframe. So far only 2 discrepancies have been found. A broken alternator bracket and a fuel leak inside the cockpit forward of the rudder pedals. I got all the wing panels closed up as well as the floor panels. Got the rear carpet and seats in, along with half of the engine baffles. The longer push rod should be in tomorrow which will allow me to install the remaining engine baffles and valve cover. My parts table is getting smaller quickly! There are just a few small things we still have to do: new baggage door seal, new 12V charger, and install door stewards. :woot:

Flew the mooney today to do some approaches for currency... took off out of KTUS and climbing out noticed a steady stream of fuel coming from the right fuel cap... bummer... return to land behind a citation to find that the line guy put the cap on wrong... :(

But a good bonus, a nice little Antonov is parked at the ramp and I got a good close up of it :)

Cool to hear! I was only trying to take pictures each day to show progress. Today we repaired the fuel leak and realized that the wrong push rod was ordered. The correct rod should be here tomorrow and if it arrives early enough, I should be able to get the engine 100% back together tomorrow. That inch and a half line with the two blue fittings was what was leaking fuel. That part is $507 new, so fingers are crossed that the mechanic's craftsmanship will hold up!

There is one B200 that we deal with at work in Dallas that has a chronic problem of improper fuel cap installation. The line guys had not put it on correctly probably 4 times or so before I left for the school year. I think the memo has been passed around now to double and triple check the caps on that plane.

Ya I'm not gonna let them put the caps on anymore... my fault for not checking it before we climbed in but such is life and lesson learned :)
