Hah, I meant that they're all staying there together in a rented house and like to drink and party and be up all night until they pass out. Not really my scene.

    Thanks for the traffic info!

Lol... I know that lady... used to live by me before they moved to Makaha. Nice property, but yea, she is out there right past Makaha Beach...

Depending on what time you need to leave for the airport and what day you leave, would defineitly determine my thoughts on the subject.

Not beachfront, but there is now a Hampton Inn located in Kapolei... easy drive to the Koolina Lagoons, drive further west to see Makaha area, and even a decent location in respect to your family staying in Haleiwa...

Like the others mentioned, traffic is shit during week days from 0630-0900 and 3-7 pm. It can get backed up mid day on the weekends. To put into perspective, from that house to the airport on a monday morning would take close to 2 hours. If off peak, its a 40 min drive. Yokohama bay is down the road, and its a really nice beach to hang at all day. You can hike around kaena point, or up some of the pill boxes (old bunkers), and chill at the beach, but thats about it. Closest decent bar is the monkeypod in ko olina. If you are military, look into booking a cabin at http://pililaauarmyrecreationcenter.com. There is also a small PX there. The price on that air bnb is really good tho...

Regarding it being a rough area...ah, not LA rough, but there are some retards out there. Lots of good friendly people too. The few bad apples always give everyone a bad rap. You'll definitely see crack heads, chickens, and some other cool shit.

let me know if you have any specific questions. Aloha, brandon

Sweet, I actually am retired military, which is how we stayed at the Hale Koa last time we came out.

How many rec sites are on the island? I know there's the Hale Koa, the cottages on K Bay, and then there's lodging at Pearl Harbor and Schofield. Now PARC too. Any other sites that have military lodging on the island?? Thanks!

I know places like Go Banana's will split the bed rack pairs up, but they charge a shitload. I would say check Craigslist. before I got my camper, I wanted to do the same thing as you, and I would come across used racks 1-2 times a week. the shitty part is they go fast, so you just gotta pull the trigger when you find it

Finally back on island. 8 day trip turned into 3 weeks with a week at sea.

Looks like I didn't miss much!

For some reason that made me laugh pretty hard

Was thinking of having our shower redone... either a solid surface, or even changing the tub to a standing...

Anyone have any bathroom contractor friends??
