Just went to check on my truck at the dealership and was told by the service manager he is "hearing" 60 to 90 days for a fix.. Ugh! My truck has been there 3 weeks already. :(

What a joke this has to be one of the biggest recall flubs I've ever heard of

Yikes. I dont even know what I would be doing about this. At the very least, I'd be in a loaner truck or 4runner or I'd be pressing for compensation.

I'd also be wheeling the shit out of the loaner truck or 4runner.

It's best to wait and be last because not only will they have the parts, but service techs and entire service department will have the procedure down pat, less change of something getting screwed up on Your vehicle.

    Just my .02
    Cheers!

Damn, if that's the case Toyota should be forced to compensate owners.

The Airbag recall had lots of people in a rental for 4 months. Might even been a few in them longer. We had several customers who's vehicles were parked for a very long time

Since some of these trucks are apparently going to be at the dealer for weeks, can the Lemon Law time limit be applied?

Or does the fact that it's for a safety recall void the 30 days in the shop LL provision?

Lemon law won't apply. Unless the "fix" turns out to not be a fix, and they try 2 more times I would think. Maybe there is some stipulations. That's a question for an attorney and every state will be different. However if something like that happened I'm sure there would be a huge class action lawsuit against them

i went in for my 20k mi check up and they claim there is some oil discolored bolts on the rear end.
they said they will need to hold my truck hostage and offered me a corolla loaner. i mentioned i use
my truck to haul stuff and id hate to damage the interior of the car, they then upgraded me to a truck.
now im reading on here 2 or 3 months to find a fix for a rear end leak?

I doubt it applies to lemon law because Toyota calls this a voluntary recall.

I think It's voluntary for Toyota not the owners ,Toyota is doing it voluntarily without being forced by the government. But it's not sounding likes it's voluntary for the owners of the Tacoma's involved. the lemon law applies to the truck being out of service for 30 days or three attempts . I'm not sure how this all works with recalls and lemon law because a lot of cars were out of service for a long time with the airbags , my mom's Honda was in the service for three months they gave her a loaner car and she got no compensation no lemon law.

Recalls aren't voluntary. They are mandated. Not only can the manufacturer be fined, but also sued for those issues. The reason this is recall is the safety concern. If your diff had little to no fluid and it seized up, it could cause a crash. Someone could be seriously hurt or die and that's what this recall is for.

I posted not to long ago that I had no visible seepage. Well what do you know. It has begun. Ugh.. before and now. 8600 on the odometer.

Ok , so who mandated Toyota to do this ? , from everything I read this was just their own internal voluntarily fix.

Im kinda screwed on this because I have fluid film all over the underside of my truck so I would not be able to tell is there is any seeping. I asked the dealer about it and they checked my VIN and said it was not on the recall. Not sure how I would tell if it would start seeping.

You can have your dealer inspect it, if only for documentation.

This is categorized as a voluntary recall on their website:
