I think the cycling will help a lot, good zero impact cardio. I have been hitting the swimming pretty hard lately, nothing less than 2000m, lots of drills and stuff. I have 2 70.3's, the local one in Ft Worth in May and then the local Ironman branded one here in June 5 weeks later. I just looked, it's 14 degrees here right now, I have a short run to do later... I would take 70's and rain!

Posted that from my phone while at a quick stop, to add to that, I have never used a power meter on my bike and only trained a little bit of time with a trainer that had the ability to measure power. I just bought a new trainer that can do power but I haven't figured it all out yet. I want to add a power meter to my bike, I thought about getting one added to a race wheel but I think a pedal or crank based system would be better so I would have power always, instead of just when riding the race wheel.

Definitely not cheap! I will fit one in at some point, I want race wheels first, even though a power meter is probably a better investment.

I'm glad I bit the bullet, and got some beauty race wheels this year. That was a real stinger to the wallet - but they should outlast my current bike. And possibly the next one.
I'm sure loving my Wahoo Kickr so far. That thing is kicking my ass on training rides. Really looking forward to Spring - to see how the real roads feel.

I realized I haven't been on in a bit, partly cause I sold my Taco :( It just wasn't getting used as a truck and the fuel economy was eating up all my tri budget money :p I made up that last part.

I am jealous of your weather, granted I do like the cold for running, I can't get my bike out any time soon since there is still snow melting and dirt and gravel everywhere. I did get race wheels for my bike, now to get back to finding a power meter!

Good luck on your race! I have a half marathon this Saturday, hoping to break 1:30, and a sprint tri at the end of the month about 90 miles south of me that the weather should be nicer for.

What one did you get? Haha, do you have fans and a TV for your drainer rides? I still like it better than the dreadmill.

Damn, sorry to hear about your friend! Sounds about right for a triathlete, more concerned about the spendy gear then their own pain and suffering.

That's so hot so early! We are lucky to get into the 50's here still.

I used to watch ironman championship videos a lot while on the trainer, now I watch the loudest, most action packed movies I can find, really helps get through the grind of 2+ hours. It was 50's and sunny yesterday, I ran in shorts, it was amazing, today it's in the 40's and raining, we have widespread flooding so there are many spots on our local paved trails that are covered in water and roads that are also covered and closed due to flooding. Heck the beach where Coeur d'Alene IM is swam is completely under water right now!

A couple of pics to show what it's like, hard to find same angle of course but the bridge in the background is the one that is underwater in the 2nd pic. Where the spectators are at in the distance is currently mostly underwater. I might drive over there this weekend to get a couple of pics of my own.

Yeah, the CdA swim start is something else, well it used to be when it was a true mass start of 2000+ people all trying to get in the water at the same time! I will be at the race as a volunteer and to support my wife on her first full IM. Excellent, I am trying to find some other races to do but so far drawing a blank on what I want to do.

Oh no, here's hoping for a speedy recovery! On the plus side grade 3 usually doesn't need surgery right? What did the doc have to say?

So what happened on the bike? Did something get lodged between the brake & fork causing it to lock up?

I'm signed up for Ironman Canada 70.3 - 29 July 2018. I have 3 other friends (so far) doing it as well. Are you doing a race?

It's been a while since I've haunted this Thread. I recently picked up a new (to me) Tri bike. And once I have it fully set up, I'll post a photo.

My current plan is to do Ironman Canada (Full) in 2019. Did it in 2015 - and hope to dramatically improve my time.

Yes. I’m doing IMNC this year. Looking forward to it. Might do Raliegh 70.3 as well. A few sprints here and there. They are great for IM training. Helps you build a little bit of speed mixed in with all the long slower paced workouts.

This is my Speed Concept 9 Series. I have two front wheels depending on the wind where I’m racing.

    Nice!!

I'd like to eventually get down to the US for a race or two. So many great locations. Looking to take a couple steps up in my Triathlon career.

Late spring and early fall racing is awesome where you are. Thin air and you can go faster than the humid ass southeast where I live.

    Work in progress...
I started doing a couple sprints a year to keep in shape. I am thinking about doing a couple of longer rides this up coming year. LOL, I may even upgrade a little on the bike.
