been stuck in an infinite loop of the oem sharkfin to aftermarket head search results... and I am needimg some clarification.

I have a 2012 TRDOR with oem sat radio, non jbl,non navi. My habitat will be covering my sharkfin, and I need to relocate the antenna. I have acquired a high gain antenna that will mount to my ARB bumper via NMO mount. This antenna has a female SMB, and I know the truck has a SFA12 connection in the drivers kick panel.

I can't for the life of me figure out which plug side goes to the sharkfin, and which goes to the head unit.

The male plastic contains the female cable end. The female plastic contains the male cable end.

So... which side is the one that goes to the head unit and which is antenna?

Is the male/female based on the plastic housing or the cable end?

    Thank you.

If your's is the same as my 09, the grey small rectangular connector in the center of your picture is the wire that goes to the headunit/sat tuner. On my truck I bought an aftermarket connector and plugged one end into the kickpanel in your picture and the other end into the sv300 sirius unit connected to my headunit.
Not sure if I answered your question as I'm not really understanding what you're trying to do...

Link to that adapter? I am in the middle of an install and that would save running an entirely new puck.

Is the part attached to the truck the antenna side or head unit side? The wire then plugs into it.

If it's the same as my 09, the part attached to the kickpanel runs back to the shark fin or blob antenna in the rear of the cab. The wire you plug in that I linked runs over to the sat tuner at the headunit. That's if it's the same as the aftermarket sat tuners, I've never seen the oem toyota sat.
