I always go to 20, then let more out if it's too soft. How far away is the nearest air pump or do you have OBA?

I usually run around 12 to 14psi on the beach. The lower you can go the better the traction. Just keep your speed low and don't make quick sharp turns.

Do you have to pay to get on Oregan Inlet? I always found 20 psi to be fine. One time I drove all the way to the point at Oregon Inlet, went to restart and realized I was still in 2 wheel drive. That 4Runner was awesome.

I usually run normal pressures there. Never had a problem.

Was at OBX last week. Beautiful weather.

Ran 18-20 psi and didn't have a problem.

    Have fun!

I usually run 15-18 with my KO2s but 20 is probably sufficient. Tire makes a difference, stiffer tire(E rated) may need a little less, more toward 15. Just remember the lower you go the slower you need to keep your speed. Tires can heat up at low pressure. Have fun out there and welcome to NC.

I would run somewhere between 15-18 as well out there.

I should mention, it depends on the sand. Alot of the "ramps" or entrances to the beaches here are sugar sand, and since there are lots of idiots with their 2500s out there running 80 psi and then getting stuck, there are also lots of ruts. But once you get past that area you can prob switch to 2wd with the lower tire pressure.

I had my old truck in OBX (Ram 1500). I aired the tires down to 20 psi. If I remember there is a little gas station about a half mile off the beach access that has an air pump.

One thing I recommend if possible for the future is getting a viair air compressor. You would be surprised how many guys will be at each gas station filling up their tires when they leave the sand.
