Couple of my friends and I want to do an offroad trip to Las Vegas. We will depart from Loma Linda California head to Barstow CA and end up in Las Vegas. Still working on the route from Loma Linda CA to Barstow. From Barstow to Las Vegas we are thinking of taking the Powerline Road/RTE l/Mccullough Pass. from Barstow to Las vegas is a pretty straight shot, but I have read that the terrain changes from rocky, to sandy, to hard packed gravel, etc...
After we arrive in Las Vegas, we will hang out there for a bit, and head back on the highway.
Im posting this here to see if anyone is interested in going. I don't think this is a very technical route. I have an 06 tacoma locked front and rear with 34"s. I have front and rear winch so i think we can probably get out of most things if anything happens, but it would be cool to have more rigs join us.
We are wanting to spend the night somewhere (camp or something).
Let me know if you are interested in joining. The departure and arrival date and hours aren't fully locked in so we could work something out.
My phone number is (909)7715100, you can comment on here or text me on my phone.

I've always wanted to take this road out of Vegas beating the gridlock. Haven't been back since I got my truck. Wonder how my Prerunner would do

It would probably do fine. Especially if you go with someone with a 4x4 just in case.

I took some of the back roads in november to get around an accident in baker... it is really soft sand i got stuck and had to air out. All that said it was fun as hell

Are you planning on camping both nights? Just curious. I would be interested, but I dont want to take two days off from work.

Probably. Do you work Monday and Tuesday? Or do you work Sunday? Let me know what would work best for you. I wouldn't be able to leave from Loma Linda until after 4pm on Sunday. And we have to be back Tuesday night or before. So we can work something out within those dates. I don't necessarily think it would take that long to do so maybe we can change our plan a bit.

I normally work mon-fri. I would be willing to take one day off. Maybe we could do the next weekend? How many trucks do you have interested so far? You definitely plan on camping? I don't want to stay the night in Vegas lol

So far it's just me and another truck. The reason why we are going those days is because of my friends work schedule. They have off Monday and Tuesday. And hey get out at 3:30 on Sunday. Well maybe we could leave Sunday afternoon, drive as far as we can, camp in the middle of the desert, and finish it on Monday and head back then. I wouldn't be able to do it the following weekend. I'm only in town for couple weeks visiting family (I live in Lincoln NE now). So I probably won't have other days that I could go. Also if you know anyone else interested invite them along.

Well don't let me be the reason you cut your trip short! I'll let my homies know. Maybe one of them will be interested.

No, It's fine. The only reason why I was giving it an extra day was just in case. But I wasnt going to go any slower. But I think it should be doable in an afternoon/evening and a day. Well, keep me updated. I don't live in CA anymore so I don't have many friend that off-road.

Ok cool, let me think about it. Not sure I want to burn a day off on a short trip, but I might!

I might be interested in taking a Monday off. I would run the Mojave road from Afton Canyon to Baker or further as the powerline road on the West of I15 is pretty boring but I have tracks from Barstow to Vegas if you want to check them out. I live in Vegas and would have to drive out to Cali on Sunday.
