Marty's last game. I was really sad when that happened. I'm sure he did not mean to knock him out like that. He was past his prime when he fought Brashear the first couple times and should have hung them up a year or two sooner. He was one of my faves growing up. One tough bugger for sure. Brashear was pretty tough too.

 

Pittsburgh has been doing that exact thing every game vs the Sens as well. Its nothing new. Watch Crosby or Malkin every time they lose a draw, its an automatic spear or crosscheck to the other center.

Does Sid gets abused here and there in general? Yes. But the majority of the time he starts it and brings the dirty play to the table, only to bitch the moment he receives it right back.

 

McSorley completely disgraced himself. Sadly he did not take losing the fight like a man on that night.

Substance? I'm not the one crying Crosby gets what any star player gets, yeah he might get a bit more but that's too be expected being the face of the NHL. For years the pens and bruins have been allowed to get away with murder and it always seems the second anything doesn't go their way there's a conspiracy or some BS. For a number of years if anyone even touched Crosby half the team would jump them from across the ice, usually with no repercussions.

 

He wanted a rematch and Brashear, since his team was winning didn't want too IIRC. You're right about disgracing himself. Shitty way for a good guy to end his career.

I see him around Staples sometimes still. He has a little girl and goes incognito. It's a shame he's not more involved with the LA Kings, I think he'd make a good coach or media person. I feel he's been somewhat blackballed. ..at one point in the early 90's , MM seemed more popular than WG.

I'll agree to disagree, mainly because I've followed Marty for so long and yes he got a little (or a lot) carried away, but that DB guy was and is a total POS in my book. One of the many reasons is because he was a dirty canoooook !

And for the record, I'm not even making excuses for a loss or anything. I don't think the refs gave the Sens the last game. There were plenty of chances for the Pens to win that game and they didn't. Even back in the Flyers series that was referenced, credit to Philly for winning. I just said as a secondary statement, that the NHL would be better off if they stopped having a 2nd set of rules for the playoffs and in general, promoted skill over thuggery. I realize everyone doesn't agree, just that is how I feel. Moving forward with McDavid and Matthews, it will be a much better look for the league.
