Yep, the water running down the trail creates hollow sections in the drifts. The amount of runoff and water on the trail would be tough for most trucks with 33's.

Taking the family to CO for summer vacation. Coming form TX so thinking S CO would be far enough. Will have small pop up as base camp and want to do some light trail riding. WIll be only one 4x4 so dont want to risk getting into anything too hairy. Friend suggested the Platoro Resevior area. Anyone have some intel on this area. Good camp spots, camp spots that are boring or should be skipped along with some mild trails that we can explore after dropping the pop up.

A nice Sunday drive to Mt. Herman Road/Rampart Range around Colorado Springs. Very easy...a Smart Car could do it*...but very scenic. Some negatives, though: a lot of trash and a lot of idiots.

    A monolith.

Just got back from a long weekend in Marble. Went to go to the Crystal Mill and couldn't get there as there was a big(BIG) slide w/ lots of debris. I talked to a few locals who questioned if the road would open this year at all. We turned around and went up towards Lead King Basin and there was a big avalanche maybe a couple miles up so we couldn't make it very far. Pics are of the slide heading towards the mill from Marble.

Nice pics! Bangs is one of my local trails now that I've relocated over here to GJ.

I know it's not Colorado but I had to get out today as well, so I ran TOTW. (It kinda counts because it's just a day trip from GJ) I gotta say I'm impressed with what my little truck can do! There were a few spots I wasn't sure about, but she just kept on chugging along.

The only way to get to the mill currently is to hike.

They probably will, maybe towards late summer. Here is a drone photo of us out on the debris field.
