HF used to ship jacks with solid plugs installed in the reservoir breather/fill hole, along with a breather plug in a red bag tied to the sold plug that made it clear to solid plug was to be replaced with the breather. However many people (being fundamentally idiots¹) ignored the red bag and instructions, and then left negative reviews that the jacks would not raise all the way and/or got hard to pump as they rose.

Someplace along the line they stopped doing that, and I have also found the newer jacks often to be low on fluid, and at times to plastic bag it's in a slimy mess...

    ------------------------------
¹ - I was watching my stepson use an HF floor jack that he had owned for some several years--the little red bag was tattered and torn but there it was with the breather cap inside, still tied to the shipping plug.

    Reserected from the dead.
It's a belt drive, so it won't be stupid loud. it will still be loud, though.

For everyday maint. on your fleet, it should work just fine.

Not really a tool, but I picked up a with a 10,000 lb rating for less than $10 the other day. Haven't tried a hard pull on it yet, but it seems solid enough and even though I can weld I couldn't make one for that price.

I was just looking at the limitations list, "Bandlands" and "winches" are not listed. Does that mean if it's not in the parking lot sale I can get a 9000 pound winch ($289.99) for 25% off? Hmm ... $289.99 * .25 = ~72.50, $289.99 - $72.50 = $217.49 ... hmmm

Even if it is, I wonder if I can get it to work on the website? Maybe?

If it works, buy two. Then when the first one shits the bed you can swap it out. Still 1/2 the price of a Warn.

    $217.49: One shitty winch
    $217.49: Another shitty winch
Priceless: Waking home because both your winches suck and shit the bed.

Yeah I hear that a lot. Not from actual owners of the winch, who all seem to love it (even know a few people who have it), but I do hear it a lot. Then again there are always the stories that generally go, "I know a guy who..." or the "<Brand> is so much better so spend 4 times as much because <reasons>" groups of people. They exists and I am not trying to change anyones mind. I have seen the winches work first hand. The ones I know work well and seem to hold up. If it ever does fail an additional $75 gets you a new one every couple of years, even if it still works, no questions asked.

I buy Warn for much the same reason I buy Toyota. Proven reliability and dependability. I want to ensure my family and I get home safe and sound. I've seen a few badlands and smittybuilts just stop working in the field and I'm not willing to risk that. I love the shit out of HF stuff, just not items where my life depends on them working 100% of the time. That being said, it was just a joke. Buy what you want.

I appreciate that you took the time to explain why your choices somehow equate to a life threatening situation, especially when you shouldn't wheel alone to begin with. Kind of like hunting by yourself, generally not a good idea. I also appreciate your attempt to use "that being said". It's kind of like saying, I'm not racists, but... your about to say something racist anyway.

It wasn't a joke, and I didn't appreciate the ever present TW elitism. But I honestly do appreciate your attempt to remain civil. Thank you for at least trying.

I don't always wheel alone but it does happen from time to time. My friends and family also spend time camping and hunting in the winter, in the snow. Sometimes its cold. Sometimes being cold becomes life threatening.

While I do recognize that it CAN happen, I also know that before that happens you have already made a series of bad decisions. It's extremely rare for "life threatening" to just happen without warning.

Agreed and I want something that I feel confident is going to get me out of that situation whether that's due to me making stupid decisions or in the event that sometimes shit just happens.

Warn for the same reason as Toyota? Might want to start rethinking that before Warn starts taking their winches back. Jk.

I put 2oz of thinner per whatever the container holds. Still came out thick. I just didn't want to set up air compressor as I was just re coating those two sections.

I have 70ft to do and was actually looking at this sprayer today. So it does need to be thinned some. No biggie. Better than brushing
