Not really. I believe a few years back someone did a 10 person group by from the company that makes the tents for all the big name brands and a 600 dollar tent ended up costing only around 800 or so. Granted, the person who organized the group buy did a lot of leg work himself to make sure everything was kosher so he didn't do another GB for the tents again.

New to rtt and had a couple questions.

Background: I purchased tepui Kukenam rugg. XL and it weighs 210lbs. I have an ARE v series topper with prinsu racks front to back.

Since my rtt is longer than my topper it also rests on the rack that's on the cab of the truck. The bed moves independently of the cab could this cause any issues?

Should I move the rtt to the front so that most of it is over the cab of the truck or will the topper hold up to the weight?

    Thanks for the help!IMG_2987.jpgIMG_2985.jpg

    Not enough...
Keep the tent in the back, just raise it up a bit higher with some rubber blocks or something. Do not put raisers under the rack mounts. Mounts sitting flat on your rack mount rails spread the weight better.

I have a PrInSu on my LEER on a short box, with a CVT Mt. Shasta on top of it, but just put a deposit on a hard shell RTT from CVT. It will definitely going to sick over the cab by a foot or more and my cab rack sits about 1/2" higher. I am planning on finding some rubber blocks to put under the tent to make sure the cab can flex independently. Would probably be a good idea to put some smaller spacers under cab rack too.

All that said, I just had 4 people and a 60lb dog hanging out and shooting shit in my RTT with no issues.

Can anyone shed light on the Tuff Stuff tent vs. Smittybilt? They're both around $800 and look the same and are the same size. How about quality?

i dont have any experience with either brand, but for $100 more, try this brand. I have the next step up, and have no issues!
