Yeah, I've caught cats (here in TX) during a Mayfly hatch on top of our underwater lights at our lake house. It was 5 lbs easily, and took me like 20 min to get him in! I was so afraid I was going to break it off, I was just trying to get him finessed in.

I don't hardly use a bait caster anymore (unless it's croaker season on the coast) and I use that same rod (4 WT) as my streamer rod. When we're polling or trolling around and see baitfish jump- throw a streamer in front of them and start stripping. It'll get inhaled!

Wondering what people do with rigged up rods and their tacoma (I have a 2017 DCOR? I often will drive spot to spot with my rod all set up, and will eventually use my thule rod carrier with a Prinsu rack (if I can ever pull the trigger).

Out the rear window? fold the first third up of the tonneau cover (I have the cover) and hang out the back?

I throw mine through the sliding rear for short travel couple miles or so.
When I'm going to a different stream I break it down in half and throw in the cab.

Brought my girlfriend and dog out to some pools at the base of a falls to show her I could catch a fish...caught about 10 bream and my dogs leg!

The good news is my dog is no longer scared of water now that knows fish come out of it. She was chasing my flies on every cast.

I just stick the reel end in one of the front corners and let the last 2-3' hang out the back. Never an issue even at high way speeds.

I don't know what short bed trucks are like to do this, though.

The big brown and giant bow are some blue ridge GA pigs. One in the net is WV. My catches in NC are normal size ☺
