I created a video, I think that will best describe the situation.

This should be accessible but let me know if it is not.

Basically I try to start my car, and you can hear a click, that I assume is the starter. After repeatedly turning the key the truck starts to turn over, then cuts out short. After a few more turns it usually starts.

Any thoughts? Help diagnosing this would be greatly appreciated.

Starter contacts. But first check the battery connections well.

Cheap easy fix. Keep the OEM Denso starter and just change the contacts. The OEM starter is likely much higher quality than a new aftermarket or reman. Plus you'll learn more about how starters work, if you do it yourself. They're actually really freaking cool. Amazes me.

Ya ill do it my self. Seems like the hardest part is getting the starter out of the tacoma.

And I can definitely appreciate the finer points of circuitry, especially having just taken that course at my college.

    Pretty much stock right now
X2. Relatively easy fix. Don't part with the OEM Denso starter.
