It's not that hard, I basically bought a L bracket and drilled holes in it big enough for the POD screws. Had to do a little bending of the bracket to get it to fit right but once that was done, I mounted the bracket to the frame. You will have to do a little trimming of the turn signal holes in order to get two PODs to fit.

Looks nice! Do you have the HIDs in the OEM reflectors or did you retrofit them with projectors? If OEM, how bad is the light scatter?

Just in OEM for now, the light scatter for HIDs is pretty bad. I have 6k LEDs now and it's not bad at all.

6k LED headlights, so probably pretty bad.

Depends on the LED. Apparently there's one particular bulb that's really good at reducing scatter. I didn't belive it until I saw pics for myself.

I'd like to see those. Seems simple enough to mimic a halogen bulb, but the evidence would say otherwise.

Let me see if I can find it. I got into it with someone once because I thought it was bullshit too, but he proved otherwise.

Agreed. It's the only way to accurately guage glare and blinding oncoming drivers.

That's also on a 2nd Gen truck. The cut off even on stock new housings on the 1st gens isn't as good as the 2nd gens.

I'm willing to bet putting LEDs in 1st gen housings would be worse.

Even still, you can point headlights down so they don't blind oncoming drivers giving you a false sense that your lights are fine. A true test is setting the center beam as per highway regulations, which is usually something like 25' away on flat ground/flat wall, and setting the center beam some distance above or below your headlights. Then measure where the beam actually cuts off. Higher cut-off = more glare. Ideally, you see a perfectly straight line, but old housings or improper bulbs will scatter the light pretty much everywhere.

You may have seen this thread, but he has a pretty damn nice cutoff with halogens on a 2nd gen, and they are uber bright.

I did the 1st gen version of this mod using the wiring harness and new CAPA certified housings, but opted not to get the Osram bulbs just yet. So far, I'm pretty impressed with just the Sylvania bulbs I have in there. Really not bad considering my housings cost $40 and I probably screwed up the install somehow...

I did the that headlight upgrade a few weeks ago. Very pleased. I need to make some adjustments. My recent lift has brought my cut-off up. Only been flashed by one person though.

Would you be up for building a pair exactly like it?? Not familiar with the process nor do I have the time!
