Yes, That is how the testing is done. Use to work in a paintball shop, even those carbon fiber cylinders get hydrotested. For the SCBA I have pictured and what Joe has in his possession, it's 15 years from date of manufacture. It gets hydro tested every 3 years.

 

Then I'd like one as well please.

Yes, after I whipped out the angle grinder.

 

No, the frame plate was hitting the rear cab mount. I had to take a 1/4"X1" rectangle off each one to get it to fit. Also her Frame is missing the flange on the inner rear so the "crimp" bolt mounts would not work properly. Regardless, they are on & aren't going anywhere for now.

 

Replacement frame issue perhaps?
Doesn't matter, we overcame.

 

Probably. My 07 has the original frame with a small lip that runs back for the crimp to attach to, they removed it on the newer frames so water can't puddle on the frame.

Later on I'll have her come over and we will drill a hole and run another large bolt through that part. That will take care of it.

Alright. Time for the write up.

So, first, these are @Mobtown Offroad Bolt on Sliders, I'll list the steps first, then go into the issues.

Step 1 , about midpoint on the frame there is a 14mm bolt, remove, you will not re-use this, instead in the parts bag there are two 17mm silver (only two silver bolts) those replace each one on both sides.


The next thing that gets a little tricky, is this bracket, remove that bolt, keep it you need to reuse those. It's on both sides of the truck, however the drivers side is a bit more complicated and where a pair of needle nose pliers and a flat head screw driver come in handy. This may vary on your truck, I'll get to that.


Once those are removed it's time to line it up, two jack stands or a good friend such as @HomerTaco with a jack are highly recommended. I would've been screwed other wise. I can be a meat head and move them no problem, but I lack the tools needed. (we'll get to that)

Before you line them up and lift into place, I recommend this fancy little bolt/welded washer being placed:


You may have to fish for it after the sliders are in place, but so much easier if done prior to lifting in place.

So, its all lined up, first, get that silver 17mm bolt into place and tighten up enough that you don't really need the jack(s).

Next get a nut onto the bolt that goes into the cross member.

From there its pretty simple getting things together. (clearly my phone died and I stopped taking pictures at this point..epic fail)


So. some of the issues, as discussed above this post, I'm missing a part of the frame, we figured it out to be a new style of frame after the whole Frame rust crap. So, those four massive bolts and crimps are not on the truck.

The other issue we had, was the cab mounts. So a few pics later, a cut here and a cut there, some paint, and we're golden.



Annnnd... Done!!
