Blackvue makes a damn nice camera for what I've read. Jon is a dash cam mesiah. I shall page him.

I currently have the rexing dashcam with front and rear camera in my current car and it's been really good. Picture quality for the front is amazing (1080p) the rear I think is 720p. Not bad for the price tho.
Here's a sample of the front:

Anyone have a recommendation for one that can withstand high temperatures? Summer time ambient temps are crazy in the South, as I'm sure they are in other regions. I'd imagine someone has experience using dashcams in park mode on a 100+ degree day.

    I use a thinkware 770 as well. It's great.

I have a DOD Tech in my truck and my wife's car and am very happy with them. They do GPS, speed, sound and all that jazz but I keep it all turned off and just capture video. Here's a recent video of a young woman who decided the road was in the wrong place.

I bought two of these a few days ago from Amazon and am testing them out. Lately they don't turn on sometimes when I start the vehicle. The buttons are blue but the screen is not on. I have to manually turn them on. The fact that both cameras do it interesting. I really like them so I'm going to give them a few more days of use to see but if they don't start behavIng 100 % soon I'll return them.

Thanks guys for the reviews, much appreciated, I’m sub’d .

Gopro imo is great all around and take along for biking, but I’m looking for the best price ease of use, rich featured dedicated dash cam, and you guys are helping.

    Cheers!

You mean the actual lcd screen isn't on? Could be just the screensaver is on where it shuts down the screen. You might need to update the fw as well. I find on an old fw sadder the screen shuts down it would stop recording

I recommend a quality dash cam. I originally purchased a cheap Camera from China. It had some good features for the price but it interfered with the FM reception, making the radio useless. Ended up with the Thinkware 770 and have no regrets.

Picked up a Garmin Dash Cam 35 with build in GPS. Wired it to the center console. Does exactly what I need it to do for $129.

No the units just do not initially turn on all the time when the vehicle is turned on. They are supposed to but they don't. Out of 10 vehicle start ups they would turn on maybe 3 times. I did the fw update, changed sd cards just in case, set default settings, etc. It's a bummer as I liked the video but I wanted something I could set and forget. They are now in a return UPS box headed for Amazon. :(

Any quality dashcam with a capacitor, not battery, should be fine. Blacksys, Blackvue, Thinkware, and Streetguardian are some....there are others.

The ThinkWare F770 front and rear dash cams hard wired installed in 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road double cab. The dash cams record continuously front and rear when driving as well as specifically records any perceived "incidents" i.e. a large pothole or an unfortunate accident. The end of the video is footage of the "parking mode". During parking mode with vehicle off, the dash cams record based off of motion detection like a car driving by the truck or someone walking near the truck as well as records perceived "incidents" i.e. someone backing into the truck, someone touching or trying to open or break into the truck. I am very pleased with this purchase, it's adds an additional sense of security when driving and when the vehicle is off and parked.

The front cam is installed behind the rear-view mirror below the windshield frit and the rear dash cam is installed inside on the left rear window behind the driver.

I have had this same camera, (Minus the rear), for a couple of months now. Working great.

Hmm that is odd, winner if you got a bad one. I tapped into a hot lead and never have to worry, the red rec light blinks and records
