Yeah I would recommend going that route if you have the welder option (I didn't). Overall, not a hard job but more time consuming than I planned.

They do not feel noticeably taller to me. I also did not find that the 4runner seats providing any additional leg room (i read they may slide back an extra 2 inches-wasn't the case for me). Oh well, for those considering, I'd say its very similar to my stock buckets. I'm 6 feet 1 inches tall if anyone was curious.

No welding required. grind off the rivet holding the 90 degree angled foot from the tacoma seat, then grind off rivet holding the 45 degree angled foot from the 4runner seat, and then bolt the 90 degree angled foot to the rail of the 4runner seat (foot circled in red).

Damn is it that easy? Could you do a writeup? How much better are the 4Runner seats compared to the Tacoma seats?

It was so hot I decided against the extra time to do the write up. I'll try and answer any questions. I did not document the process to do a write up unfortunately.

Grinding out the rivet is probably the hardest part. I didn't have my grinder so I drilled it out (more of a pain, but do-able). The rear foot on the outter rail (the foot behind the circled one) was about a 1/4 inch off centered. I was able to make it work with some muscle and was able to get the large bolt and washer in. So 3 of 4 lining up is a bit of a stretch. 2 of 4 are PERFECTLY centered, the 3rd hole is slightly off, and the 4th (red circle) is the wrong angle and must be fabricated.

These are an upgrade to me from my stock 99 buckets. The 4Runner seats hug you on the back and seat, making me feel much more secure in the seat (especially on turns). The lumbar support is really the big plus though. For extended trips, this is really going to make a world of difference. I also think although the pattern is not an exact match, it flows really well with the interior. I certainly appreciate other seats that are fabricated to fit, but often I find they don't really "match" the interior. These do the trick perfectly!

You didn't happen to notice if any of interior part numbers directly cross over to the tacoma, did ya? That could be a huge resource for parts for these interiors as the aging process inevitably happens.

Nice to see a 'used' bucket swap that is nice and clean. Helps keep me motivated to stay in the search for buckets for my bench. My bench is cleeeaaaannn, but damn it's uncomfortable for driving more than an hour.

THat's some great info! Thanks for providing that. I came across some of these seats on my local craigs but they sold before i could make time to meet up with this guy. I was bummed out. Now i'm really bummed out seeing the pics of your truck with them mounted up. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for another set.

No Unfortunately, I just noticed it after looking at all the older Toyotas in the junkyard. The interior door handles are basically identical besides color, they would fit up just fine. (if the actuator arm lines up)

Cool. Rereading your post and the years of the possible donor yotas, I guess it's not likely they share part numbers. But still, I'm gonna take a peek next time at the Pick n Pull. Thanks for the heads up.

So what ive done. I got a 12 kicker sub in between my seats, light up cup holders, color changing dash, brighter dash lights, always on rear view camera, a capacitor, and took out the clock and put in a place for my cologne, sony radio. Bedlinered the inside of my doors but no pictures of it. 20170523_221229.jpg 20170523_221351.jpg 20170523_221320.jpg 20170523_221432.jpg 20170523_221414.jpg 20170523_190653.jpg 20170523_190641.jpg 20170523_221537.jpg 20170523_190633.jpg

Well I ran the power wire to the cab of the truck to one my power wire for the radio so when i flip the key it comes on. Instead of wiring it to the the back up lights you wire it to a constant 12v and add a switch or to something that comes on when you turn the key. It took me less then 5 minutes to wire up. Really easy. I like it much better because half the time i dont put my truck in reverse i just roll since its a manual. If you need help again or another question im here to answer them

I found the center console to be to much of a trash can so I removed it and found a husky tool bag that fits perfect.

Could you possibly do a write-up with pics on the lighted key ring install.
    Thanks!!

Sure! It might be a while. If I had a build thread it'd be the slowest one on here.
