I, like many people, was sucked into the Blue Rhino tank exchange. Well, i have had it. The one thing it is good for is convenience, most of the time. I have had about 3 leaking tanks over the past year. Lowes is usually pretty good at exchanging, but its a pain when you fire up the grill and hear a hiss. I have two tanks from Blue Rhino so i always had a backup, but i want out. My latest tank started leaking after a few uses. Im very technical, and will usually check for leaks at each use. I would say most people dont and just go to town. This could have been ugly, leaked right from the valve. Anywho, as you would have guessed, blue rhino will not refund a tank. They say you buy the tank and its yours. Thats all well and good, except the tanks they give you are refurbished pieces of crap. So, ill have to find someone who wants to buy these off me. I bought a brand new tank, works great, and will be filled to the full 20 lbs, unlike BR's 15 lbs pieces of junk.

When I remodeled my kitchen, I had propane installed and also had a line run from the 100 gallon tank to the grill. With automatic delivery and I don't really worry about running out.

Converted the grill to NG when I installed the fireplace and tankless h2o heater.

Also have a traditional fill station in town, so never got in the blue rhino loop.

FYI: Just in case you haven't already, when converting your propane grill to NG you'll need to preposition the igniter. Propane falls (heavier than air), NG rises (lighter than air). All you have to do is move the igniter to above your gas manifold instead of below it and you'll stop getting those sizable *woofs* of ignition.

Yes. Blue Rhino is garbage. I got the propane tanks designed for forklifts but you can look at the propane tanks for boats as well. 20 lbs tanks or you can get the 80 lbs tanks meant for RV's and toy haulers depending on your liking off ebay and adapted them to my grill. Much more robust and haven't had an issue. (Ebay is your friend)
