Tires for a Tacoma tow rig

Sorry, a tire thread...

I have a 2016 Tacoma Limited crew cab with tow package. Already added a P3 brake controller and Sumo springs.

Plan to tow a 7x14 dual axle aluminum trailer carrying a couple of race bikes on flat roads for no more than 120 miles trip (each way), several times a month during the Summer months.

Total trailer weight fully loaded will easily be between 3,000 and 3,500 pounds.

The truck will never go off roading and I prefer a quiet tire. Not really interested in aggressive looks - just don't care...

Only other consideration is prefer something I can use all year long - so good in snow. However, if I can't get that, I'll just get a second set of dedicated snow tires... FWIW, I'm not very price sensitive when it comes to this stuff.

Do I need E-rated tires? Probably not, then again, that's why I'm on here asking as I don't know jack poop about light truck tires that are good for towing... and are quiet...

Look at the stock setup you have.Will do the trick just fine. You're not towing at full capacity every day

 

Like kaernter said C rated is fine and what your truck is certified at with its factory tow rating. E rated tires are going to be heavier and hurt performance, ride and mileage.

I've got about 7000 towing miles on my 16 with factory C rated rubber and have had 0 issues. We tow a 3500lb TT.

 

Make sure to increase the tire pressure to near/at max pressure so that they can safely carry the additional weight.

 

I'm happy with the wear and lack of road noise on the Michelin LTX M/S 2 we're running on my wife's vehicle.
