Has anyone swapped out their 2016-17 SR radio to a SR5/TRD/Limited radio and been able to make the factory XM work on the new radio? Any help?

if you didn't previously have XM, you'll need a satellite antenna.

I have been looking at that also. I have been trying to find a plug that will fit the radio and plug into an aftermarket XM antenna. Little cheaper than buying the new antenna and harness.

I don't think the radio unit by itself gives you XM. Usually they require a separate XM tuner that is then controlled by your existing radio. If you want to add XM, check out a site called xmfanstore.com.

The radio has the XM tuner. It came out of a 2017 SR5 .

Sub'd as I intend to do similar with my SR. Does anyone know if the existing wiring/antenna in the SRs support HD radio?
Not interested in XM as much as I am HD radio. Not trying to threadjack, just adding discussion..

Edit: Googlez says existing antenna will pick up signals so you just need an HD head-unit to decode it?

Did anyone confirm that SR model trucks (Double Cabs) in particular come pre-wired from the Fin forward?

I'd love to get an SR and just upgrade to an SR5 or TRD head unit and not have to worry about more wiring if it was already there.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Just so you know -- the SR5's can come equipped with one of 2 radios -- there is a 3rd radio that is only avail. in the higher priced models. The base SR5 radio has XM capabilities as does the optional radio that comes as part of the NAV pkg.
In other words, both the radios that come in the SR5's are XM capable. I am 95% sure of this. I have a base 4x4 SR5 and it has XM.

This IS The standard radio that comes with the base SR5. The optional radio has all of those buttons on the left and the right of the faceplate --built into the face plate to give a overall clear faceplate.
Hope this helps --I am wanting the optional radio for my SR5 if I can find one

    Yes it will.
I had to run power to the antenna (fin) for it to work.
NEX-4200 Pioneer works better than factory.

I have hd stations, google gps/navigation, engine monitoring (rpm, mpg, everything), tire pressure, door open, dvd movies, apps, apple carplay/android auto etc etc etc right on the large screen. Love it.
It also interfaces with the steering wheel control on left and is programmable ! You need to buy the interface separately.
Better than factory IMO. Problem with factory is it outdates quick !

that says it gives you the hvac controls AND has a button for automatic temp control. do you know if that works by itself or if you already have to have auto AC controls? if it works by itself, consider me sold. that is amazing.
