Remote Start Wiring Question

    Preparing to install a remote start/keyless entry system on my 99. I have the basic wiring legend for the 99 and I have the detailed instructions for my system (
    $150 Viper 4806v 2-Way LED Remote Start System
    Viper 4806v), so for the most part I know what I'm going to be doing. I was wondering though what the second ignition wire is. According to the wiring description I've got there are two ignition wires...anyone know what they are for?

    Is the first for the key on/engine off, and the second actually starts the car?

    So I'm curious if anyone knows what the two ignition wires do, and then also what the accessory wire does.

    you have to have both ignition wires getting 12 volts for it to crank. my guess is it makes it harder to hotwire

    Found this...it's from a 2001 wiring manual put out by Toyota. I assume the basics are the same for the 99. Wire coloring is the same anyway...

    It seems to indicate that Ignition 1 is for things like wipers, the gauges, turn signals, the ECU, etc. Then Ignition 2 is actually cranking the engine via the starter...

    They run 2 wires to spread the amp load out. the black wire is the starter on a 2000 the ign2 go's to the igniter and coils.

    So then for a remote start would I connect to both wires or just ignition 2?

    The ACC powers gauges, radio, cig, power outlets, lights just about everything in the integration relay.

    I'm planning on getting the same system as you. Where did you find the Viper instructions and schematics? You can usually only get them if you're a certified installer or google hard enough. If you could send me a copy I'd really appreciate it!

    There are several places, including the12volt.com that have basic legends for the wiring harnesses you'd need to tap into...took me a few minutes to find the one I needed for my year. I didn't create a login on there to get download access for manuals, which they apparently have, but I managed to find it here:

    I figure coupling that with several youtube videos of installs of this system such as:

    ...that I should be able to figure it out. Lots of helpful folks here, too.

    I need to wrap up the practical stuff on my truck before I can get into the fun stuff, so it might be a month or more before i can do it.
