Hey mang! Good time in Cabo, or wherever you went?

No. I'm gonna wait a few days and let it set up more. I could still put a mark in the coating with my fingernail late last night.
If it never firms up, looks like it'll get stripped again and then I'll just rattle can it and be done. Or bite the bullet and pay for someone to coat it.

Says to wait 72 hours before putting anything in the bed of the truck (if this were used on a truck bed), so to me that means I'm gonna wait 72 hours at least to mount it.

Don't use a grinding disc to prep the steel unless you want it textured. It's difficult to keep it from gouging it, however, the bed liner did fill a lot of the marring. I also went back over the whole thing with a flap disc and that fancy 3M wheel https://www.amazon.com/3M-9099DCNA-Large-Paint-Stripper/dp/B00004Z4DV and mostly got it back to smooth.

Do the prep work yourself if you can. Save you a dollar, take pride in knowing you did it yourself! And your turn around time at the powder coater (if you do that) will be much faster too!

I had REAL beer too. I would've been more worthless that day if I drank many of those. The Lite was more for thirst quenching haha!

BTW, need to pick your brain about my CB antenna.
I don't think it's grounded properly. Reception sounds like crap, similar to when my magnetic antenna would fall of the roof, I can hear people talking, but it just doesn't sound right.

Currently, installed in this order: antenna, spring, quick connect, top half firestik stud (lock washer, ceramic washer), mount bracket (painted mind you), lower half of firestick stud, firestik coax, radio. Radio is grounded through the self built connector to the 12v accessory outlet. It's fused.
What am I missing? If I need to install a ground strap or cable, where in that mess would it go? Should I eliminate something in the setup?

Ground your antenna mount. Also, make sure there is no paint/powder coat where the bottom (ground side) half of the stud contacts the mount.

    Easy enough!

Grounding the mount bracket is easier (to me) than grounding the antenna assembly. Didn't want any more exposed cables than what little bit shows of the coax.
Now to find a proper path to run a ground wire!
