Think about where you take your truck, how often, where you park, how often you think you'd be using your radio.

Most people have a permanently mounted antenna, either on the side of their hood, or somewhere off the back of their rig.
For me, I have a magnet mount for a few reasons:
    • I don't use my radio often, so I don't need a really powerful, dedicated antenna
    • I live in an apartment complex where thing often get stolen
    • Sometimes, I park under a covering and my antenna slaps the top
    • It's really easy to pull the antenna off the roof and put it behind the back seat when I don't need it.
Knowing what kind of setup you're thinking of having will help narrow down what antenna to get, how long of a coax cable to order, and what mount to order.

    In the meantime, start watching.

I really think she's too analytical about the simple things. You're pointing her in the right direction though!

My antenna decision was simple. Drug addicts steal shit, regularly. I made it removeable, and I also don't use my CB daily because it's not 1970 and they're becoming rare. My truck is also my DD and not a dedicated rig, so I don't want it completely fan boy'd up just yet.

I'm basically in the same boat. But my AM/FM antenna recently snapped off, and I can't get broken part of the shaft out of the mount, so I'm planning on getting a new FireStik with an adapter/splitter to use the same CB antenna for both AM/FM and CB.

How so? I think we might be pretty close to even... but I have tires.

I don't anticipate using it often.
I don't live in an area where it'll get stolen, but I do work in a slightly sketchy area. That being said, our cars are still pretty well protected at work.
I never park under a covering.

So probably removable? I feel like either option would work perfectly fine for me.

Also, I saved the video (and a few others) to watch on the plane tonight.

    ...I'm right here, dude.

I have tires, too! They're just not as new as yours :pout:

Awesome. Also, run this by the GC and get his input. I'm really good at making things work on a tight budget and I'm willing to make sacrifices, but he might have some insight to better quality equipment, etc.
