The girlfriend and I are looking into adopting a dog soon. We had heard about the TSA adoption program and I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with it. Supposedly, the dogs available are the ones who didn't pass the final certifications to become bomb-sniffing dogs.

I would need to travel to San Antonio from the SF Bay Area to pick up the dog, so either I'd make a road trip out of it in the taco, or pick it up on one of my business trips to Dallas and fly it back in a crate.

I was just curious if anyone had any experience before I make go through all the motions. Thanks!

No experience, but I would imagine that such a dog would be extremely well trained. It is probably a strong personality dog, usually these dogs are initially chosen for their desire to play and interact with their human because success means a reward of a toy. Possibly a very active dog.
Hard to see how you could go wrong with such a dog, unless you were unable to give it the exercise, play time and training it might need. And some people's schedules won't allow that.
And if the dog ever sniffed a visitor's privates, you just say, "don't worry, it's TSA".
    Good luck!
