Sweet, I have heard of them. I would be curious what kind of maintenance to expect with this, besides your normal stuff. I wheel my truck and know the kind of maintenance that goes into my 06 with wheeling and daily driving setup

    Hey Tacobell,

At the moment, the truck needs nothing at all. It's ready to drive across the country. I've replaced all the suspension stuff like Upper ball joints, lower ball joints, steering rack bushings, all suspension bushings and tie rod ends. The only bushings I haven't replace are the lower control arm bushings. The truck drives fine, but that could be something to do if they fail in the future. Similarly, I replace the clutch in 2010 or 2011. It doesn't slip and drives fine. But, that could be something to do in the future.

The only maintenance you'd have to do in this truck that goes beyond stock is, when you change t-case oil, drain and refill 2 cases rather than one... and keep your rear orbit eyes lubed with grease every once in a while. (Really the yearly fluid film does a great job of that)

At the end of the day, the truck doesn't need any more maintenance than a stock rig and doesn't need anything to hop in and take it on a trip now.

Alright cool, How many miles would you say you put on the truck since you changed the clutch? I have access to a lift and trans Jack for a lift so it's not a huge deal, just trying to get an idea

I'd say that it has between 60k and 80k on the clutch. I think the last clutch lasted over 100k so I don't think it would need one soon. But, you know how these things go.

Right, the one in my truck last 120k miles, so I'm guessing that one probably has another year or 2 left in it

Awesome truck and great pictures. Not expecting you to start selling in parts but if you are interested in selling just the softtopper I'd like to hear more about its condition and what you would want for it.

    Hi Ben,

Thanks for the compliment. So, someone is coming to look at the truck tonight. Another guy is interested on Expo Portal but lives across the country in CA. If I can sell the whole setup complete, I'd rather do that. But, if for some reason the buy doesn't want the topper or I change my mind and decide to sell it separately, I'll post up on here and let you know!

    hello hello Lumpskie.
A little update on your beloved Tacoma and a quick question for ya!

In 2017 it made it's way to Washington state and was enjoyed and loved by my dad before I was lucky enough to take it off his hands in 2019. It is my daily driver and weekend warrior out in Jackson, Wyoming. I love this truck. Current mileage is at 290k and runs like a champ for the most part! However, the shocks desperately need to be replaced. I've read your forums on the vehicle and am trying to find out what year of the 5100s tundra bilsteins were put on the front suspension. I have run the part number with no luck. If you remember, let me know! Regardless, THANK YOU so much for giving my dog and I the best adventure vehicle in the world.

Hey! It is so good to hear that the old Taco is being taken care of and is still ticking. I'm really happy it went to a great home. I shot you a PM with info on the suspension. Going through the pics of this thread brought back so many memories. Keep me updated on how things go!
