On my newly purchased 2017 (5/18/2017) BBP Limited the rear bumper left side is spaced about 1 1/8" out from body and the right side is 5/8" out from body. Brought back to dealer last week to get adjusted but said there is no in / out adjustment only an up / down twist adjustment where the top or bottom can be moved in / out but the whole bumper can not be moved in / out any. While they were working (trying to fix) my truck went look at (2017) Tacomas on lot and of the 11 looked at, at least 1/2 of em had rear bumper spacing where the left side was farther out than the right. They notified the factory rep and they weren't aware of this rear bumper spacing issue and suppose to get back with me if there is a fix. Told dealer just drill slots in holes so it can be adjustable but said it would void the warranty.

So do any 3rd gen owners have this rear bumper spacing (gap) difference? The ones I looked at the left side (drivers side) was the side that was spaced out farther from body / bed panel than the right side.

Can't help you much, but man BBP looks great in the Sun! I wish Toyota had painted our bumper caps with the same quality at the body of the truck. I hate how you can see some texture of the cap through the paint. GM does the same on some stuff and it's always bugged me!

Tell the dealer you want them to buy back the defective bumper at list price, then use the money to get a front and rear plate bumper.

Check the bed alignment while you're at it.

My guess is the bumper is fine and the bed shifted. A few have had problems with the cab/bed mounts

I recently got rear ended and they had to replace my whole back bumper.
When i got the car from the shop and drove back home I realized that my bumper had the same problem like yours. I had to take it apart an realign it my self . The left and right pieces of the bumper have left/right adjustment for sure. U can make that gap as u want.

Number 9 and 10 are attached to number 1 with 2 bolts each from the top,and to number 6 with 2 bolts from the bottom. They are fully adjustable:)))))

Mine's misaligned to the opposite side! My bed was slightly out of alignment so I bought a torx bit and realigned the bed that's when I noticed the bumper misalignment. Some day I'll crawl under and tweak it a bit.

They did check the bed alignment and said it's not the problem. I checked it myself when got back home --- measured it in 6 different areas on both sides and all measurements were the same on both side except for one with the cab which was 1/32" off.

Mine is also misaligned. I don't see how you would adjust it from the pictures.

    You're not the only one!

I notice the difference a month after buying, I never questioned the dealer and I don't know if I should.

Dealer called me and said to bring it in and they would send it to a local body shop to get it fixed (adjusted) and would provide a Tacoma rental for me.
