    I've already bought it and I'm out in the country. Is it the right filter? I'm a bit hesitant.

    If it fits, it will work fine. It will just have less filter media. If in doubt or it doesn't fit, just reuse the existing one until you can get another. Easy to replace, and you'll lose only a tiny amount of oil. This assumes you have an extra .5 qt oil handy.

    Too few to list.
    From what I've seen, aftermarket filters sometimes tend to be on the small side. I've seen a Bosch Distance Plus oil filter for our trucks and is only about 2/3 the size of OEM.

    Too few to list.
    That's about the size of the Bosch. They're smaller because they have less filter media that is supposedly more efficient than OEM.

    They only list that one filter for Toyota, and Toyota use a few different filters of different capacities, but all have the same thread and fit. My old 3.4 used a D1, which is shorter that the D3 specified for the 4.0. but you'll be fine with that.

    I've used the 102 for years. Recently went with the 102A because that's what my regular store carries. I see no difference in the sizes

    The 102 is what the book says to replace the OEM filter. However, the 209 also fits and is a larger capacity filter; it's what I get when it's on sale, or there is no sale on other filters. I've also used Wix 51516XP, Purolator One

    I'm guessing that the "A" in 102A is the new filter designed to last as long as Mobil 1's new 20K mile oil.

    I misread your post. I thought you were saying there was a difference between the 102 and the 102A.

    No worries on the M1 filter. It's a high quality piece. I've been using them for years on my Tacos. They're well liked on "bobidtheoilguy" site as well.

    Honestly, I would just toss it out and go buy an OEM filter to use. Sure you lose $5 but it'll put your mind at ease, and may prevent possible trouble ( faster wear on the filter due to less media in it, poorer filtering, etc.).

    But again, the bigger thing is peace of mind, which is priceless ( at least for me with my taco)
