Looks like there the same up to 2004 Tacoma's. The only difference was California or federal emissions on 4cyl.

According to my diagrams the v6 auto and manual use different plugs. Maybe from 98+ they are the same...

My 96-2002 4runner FSM didn't show any difference but how many manual 4 runners are there. Hmmm apparently they are by your book. Let me look at what I have.

My diagrams are straight from Toyota. Manual 4runners are kinda rare, and ended in either 99 or 00. According to my diagrams, at least(maybe others) the 95.5-97 Tacoma and 96-97 4runners with the 3.4 and manual transmission use the same two row plugs.

You, I found them on the TOD website, bout 25$ for all 4 housing. I don't need any pins for them. I am going to make an auto engine harness a manual transmission harness for my 3.4. I'm going to check with my guy at Toyota and see if I can get them cheaper. TOD wants 17$ to ship.

Before hand, I figured I'd check with you since you had stuff listed (you know, do business with the little guy).

Appreciate that. Ya the housing are pretty cheap. It's the terminals that will kill ya, at $5 each.

1998 - I just talked to someone who said he bought a FSM for a 1997 (his model year) that had good info on the srs system in checking for issues. I wonder if the 2000 version would apply to my truck. Do you know?

I like how I just had a feeling you might have this stuff and sure enough you came through

98 front left or right? Are you having problems with your SRS? I have the 96 service manual, 2000 should be close. Did he buy the hard copy or a digital version.

He bought a hard copy. I'm not sure what the issue is yet, but since the PO said the light would come on whenever he winched (although I replicated this with driving over a good pot hole) I'm assuming it might be a sensor. I can't find where the sensors are in the engine bay - if that's where they are. On my 08 they're super easy to spot. This says that they weren't in the engine bay before 99:

    http://www.customtacos.com/forum/28-exterior-body/80141-air-bag-sensors.html#post922926

Although I think I might have to be looking on the trans tunnel under the dash:

    http://www.customtacos.com/forum/28-exterior-body/80141-air-bag-sensors.html#post923068

lol at first I thought he meant under the truck so I was looking above the transmission which is obviously not that easy.

I've checked all the looms and the only thing reaching to the front are lights, the AC (I think - a round metal thing that says "Spartan"), and the window washer fluid pump. Am I just dumb and missing it? o_O

What would that kind of thing look like if I take my dash apart? I had it apart the other day, but didn't look too closely for anything like that.

Bonus round: How do I disconnect the 12v outlets from the bottom part of the dash in front of the shifter? I left them connected the other day because I couldn't figure it out. It made moving stuff around in the dash a lot harder though. Thank you!

The outlets should just unplug on the back. They may be tight. give them a good wiggle back and forth. Any SRS component will have a yellow loom.

On my pickup the front airbag sensors are under the battery and under the air box area. Not underneath it but mounted right below it.

Thank you! I'll get back in the dash tomorrow or Tuesday. I really checked well for any looms black or yellow in the engine bay and I'm becoming certain that there aren't any in the engine bay - I'll check again just to make sure, but again the only wire looms went to headlights, the ac (I think because it doesn't look like any sensor I've seen before and it's piped into something with a hard line), and the window washer fluid pump.

Here's the other guy's post I mentioned before and he seems to have the same info as the other thread on CT on airbag sensors:
