I was thinking of doing a huge trip like that. PanAmerican trip like Dan from theroadchoseme (http://theroadchoseme.com/expedition-overview). I'm not trying to be intrusive but would you mind doing it as a group thing?

Also for those thinking about doing the MOAB thing, what does that trip entail, and what kind of rig do you need? I ask because I plan on doing an overlanding thing full time in 2 years and I want to gain experience on the road and living out of my rig.

I doubt it just because it would be so short lived. Sorry man. You can look into translating/teaching English online to foreign people.

Trailer? Those old military trailers can be found for cheap on CL. That was my plan if my 80 wasn't spacious enough.

MOAB can accommodate any vehicle, its mind bogglingly massive. I took my old 2WD Tundra out with a group of guys and had fun, but I mostly stuck to the outside rim blasting around the dirt roads. I haven't been back since, which sucks...

What do you mean by overlanding full time? If you need gear/actual wheeling advice i'm more than happy to help where I can

Thought about it, not sure how my lil' 3.4 would do pushing 37s (even with 5.29s) in the mountains having to lug a trailer... My best wheeling buddy used to have an LJ with the 4.0, 37s with 5.13s, and built overland style military trailers, and his Jeep couldn't even handle New Mexico...

Too poor to list anything interesting.
I'll have to see when I'm going, and what all I'm looking to do while out there. But I'd consider it.

For Moab, bring a buddy and a good radio (HAM if you got it). You can do a number of trails stock, but having a lift and a little armor can help. For overlanding, the general ~3" lift and 33s should work well out there. You won't be doing the extreme trails, but even the mild trails are a blast.

I mean quitting my job, living out of my 80, and traveling the world. Remote areas. Everything and everything.

I appreciate the advice. I will reach out when I start adding suspension/gear.

Yeah, you only live once, and every day you're getting older. Im in my mid 20's but I already feel like I missed out on a lot.
I also don't believe in retirement. So what's the point of going to work everyday.

Dang man, sounds awesome! One of my best friends is the same way, the Toyota mechanic, he drives a 60 series but everything drivetrain is out of an 80 series at this point. Basically travels between Colorado and the west coast wheeling and living out of his cruiser. Has 37s with 4.56s, 4.71 doubler t-case, and that imported TD, thing is a monster... just running an OME 3" lift.
