There was a lot of controversial issues with this shooting and the use of his personal non dept approved weapon I don't think it had anything to do with what someone had some bullshit on his ejection port dust cover other than some over reaching prosecutor .....

Their have been more attempts to bring murder changes for using hollow point defense ammo.....

I guess I will have to take those chances if i am carrying this gun and i need to use for self defense. This is not one of my daily carry guns but I have and will carry it. I wonder if that could be the same with the lords prayer on the side of spikes lower....

You're right, but if the case is teetering on going either way...why give them anything right?

The hollow point thing is also anecdotal as far as I've ever seen...people always refer to it, but i've never read or heard of a specific case involving that argument...if you can find one, I would love to see/read it

The bottom line is, it's something to be considered, and each person does have to make their own decision.

It's not for me, but I won't demonize someone for their choices...just adding information for folks to make the best informed decision possible

Got my kenai chest holster in the mail Friday! It feels good wearing it around the house and I've found that my backpack helps to hold it in place really well when the waist and sternum straps are buckled. Field test won't probably be for a few months (when it's less than 100° outside).IMG_20170609_104505.jpg

I didn't take it that way and I get the whole argument of the labeling of people and over active anti gunners and state prosecutors feeding on the public opinion try to convict someone that have no case otherwise. And my lords prayer on my gun offends many anti gun people in my family that I have not talked to some on many years but then again I did tell many of them to get fucked if they don't like.

I have been watching this case for sometime now and if any of this evidence is true that the victim was unarmed and laying down I think Officer is toast. If one is legally authorized to use deadly force and has HP defense ammo that is reasonable to me.There is a case I will have to find where someone was using Extreme shock EPR ammo it is some very nasty shit and they are trying to incarcerate this guy for life.I know they were set for trial in Feb of this year but was postponed to the defense's challenge of probable cause. the prosecutor has offered Brailsford a plea deal that would reduce the charge to negligent homicide but I think that was turned down last I read.

I had to go to the County court house a few weeks ago to get paper work for an NFA item taken care of. Of course I carry just about everywhere I go. Here in Va its a no go with a gun in the Court house no biggie. I just take my gun out of my holster leave it in the truck but I didn't take the holster off since its a pain in the ass.

Going through the check point in the CH I set off the detector so I get a pat down and the see my leather holster. Officer goes you have a gun I said no I have a holster for a gun.

Officer goes where is the gun I said in the truck,he said where is your truck parked I said in the parking lot outside behind the building. This is where it got strange mind you in Va its also illegal to have a gun on Court House grounds including parking lots. So the officer says can you take me to your truck I said you wanna go for a ride? he said no I said what a shame it's a great new truck. We walk outside go around the building walk to a small lot just east of the Court House parking lot. He said your not parked here in this lot I said no I'm right there would you like to go for a ride? At this point he was pissed because he thought he was going to get me for procession of a firearm on State/County property....

He goes you know you obstructed the law I should arrest you I said go ahead please do. For knowing the law? He goes no you mislead a law enforcement officer... I said for telling you I was parked a parking lot I gave you the answers to the questions you asked right? I said it's my fault that you didn't clarify what lot because you thought you were going to get an easy arrest for procession on State/County property? That ended the discussion!

I also did see something that they were trying to use some of his Tattoos as hate speech prompting Mesa to put in place new rules for Tattoos on new hires as well.

As far as tattoos and things etched on firearms I would not give the lawyers anything to use against you. Sucks but that's the way it is. As far as hollow points if they are legal in your state carry them! If you have to use your firearm it is to save your life. Hollow points are designed to stop the threat and are the best choice. Fire center mass until the threat stops.

Totally agree...HP designs are two fold...to control over penetration with the expansion and the expansion creates a larger wound cavity causing the threat to stop faster.

FMJ stays a solid chunk of lead in which will easily pass through its intended target with less internal damage. And over penetration = increased likelihood of collateral damage to unintended targets. Not saying that HPs won't over penetrate but are far superior self defense round if allowed to carry them in your state

Go with the Safariland ALS holster. Stay away from the Blackhawk Serpas. Too many reports from the Serpa of people not having proper fundamentals and shooting them selves as they are either reholstering or drawing to fast with their finger in the trigger and popping one in the leg.
Either way it's the shooters fault, but Serpas take more training to really ensure your not putting your finger on the trigger before on target

Last night I was thinking back through my training days when one of my trainers (Ex US Marshall) was talking about Killer bullets better known as hollow points. Any prosecutor is going for the throat for a conviction notch in his belt at whatever costs. In court you will be asked why you purchased and carried a specific Gun/ammo no matter what and making admissions that prosecutors would rely on heavily, even know that ammo/gun was legal. your going to be made out to be a ruthless killer wanting to inflict maximum damage since all they need to do is convince a jury. I was also taught to use whatever ammo and like gun used by local LE Glock,Smith,Sig etc this way making a explanation on why is simple.

Do you want something with retention or friction only? The thumb drive is very similar I'm concept to the als.

ill never go back to Serpa style...had one jam from dirt

Safariland if you must have owb and retention is nice...carried as a cop in one for several years...love it but not sure how concealed the holsters can be

If your looking for a holster just to conceal then your best bet is an IWB. I use a crossbreed and once it's broken in, it has been the most comfortable holster I've ever owned. (Stay away from an OWB because you'll either print or expose the bottom of the holster when lifting your arm up). I'm not a fan of a retention device when carrying concealed. The point of carrying concealed is so no one knows you have it.

If your looking something for open carrying then go with an OWB that has retention. My duty & competition holster is a safariland als. My draw is just as fast with an ALS as I am with a friction only holster
