I was in an accident two weeks ago and it destroyed the back of my 2009 Tacoma Pre Runner.
After arguing with the Insurance company(Travelers) for two weeks I finally convinced them that the 6500lb hitch(from Toyota $1200.00) had to be replaced with the same. They wanted to put a 5000lb hitch(Reese $100.00) on the truck. After the repair shop convinced them that they wouldn't put the Reese hitch on they agreed to buy the Toyota hitch. Now they are telling me the hitch isn't available at any Toyota dealer.
Anyone got any suggestions as to how to find this hitch,I don't care if it is used? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Where are you located? I'll have a factory hitch available in September/October (it's coming off my truck).

upload_2017-6-14_14-47-21.jpg Factory tow package hitch part # 51908-04010. Your insurance is just being cheap and doesn't want to pay for a new one. If your Taco has a factory tow package on it, that's the part number you want. and it is still available.

I've always hated dealing with insurance companies after an accident. They always want to cheap out and put on parts that are not OE. My wife had an accident in her vehicle (not her fault) and they wanted to replace the hood, grill and headlights with aftermarket parts. The hood is engineered to crumple in a certain way during and accident and installing a cheaper aftermarket hood will compromise your safety. Finally got my way but I thought we were going to court.

Stick to your guns and tell them to repair the truck as if the accident never happened using the exact same parts that were on it before.

I have my rear bumper and hitch on CL. Don't know if the 14 is the same one or not?
