Today i got in my truck after work and it wouldn't start. So I open the hood to find where a rodent (squirrel) chewed into my wiring at the top of the engine. There was also a lot of chocolate melted everywhere. I think it's chocolate. It doesn't stink, but I didn't taste it either. It has pieces of nuts in it, but I imagine squirrel crap does too.
Anyway I found only one wire actually broken. I don't know what it is, but the other end of it goes into the bottom of the block. I tried to get it out of the block in order to replace it, but apparently I'm going to have to take loose the AC pump to make enough room to slide it out.
The oil light was on in the instrument panel so i think maybe it's an oil pressure sensor IDK.
    My truck is a 2.7L.
    Here are some pics.

Fuel pressure regulator is the part with the vacuum hose that was chewed off.

Also, the small sensor on the block in the last picture, that is your crank sensor

That hose I'm holding on my hand isn't a vacuum hose. It has wires inside it and it connects to the sensor(?) in the bottom of the block.
I was thinking it has something to do with oil since my oil light is on.
Edit: yes ther was also a vacuum hose broken, but it was long enough that Ibremoved the broken part and slipped it back on.

Well the sensor is the crank position sensor. It looks a lot like that vacuum hose that is missing from the regulator in the picture, sorry

Yes, that's the part I need.Thank You. I see now that I'm going to have to remove the AC pump completely. That sensor is a lot longer than I had hoped. I was hoping I could just loosen it up some and it would give me enough room to slide the sensor out of the block. Not happening.
Man, I'm kinda bummed out. This truck just has 14,000 miles on it. I wasn't expecting to have to do a repair.
I know it's not the trucks fault though.
I'm gonna camp out at work with my suppressed 10/22. Fn squirrels.

Reminds me of when I went camping years ago and a kid went and used the outhouse. He came back and said somebody rubbed chocolate all over the inside of the outhouse, I looked at him and said kid that wasn't chocolate.

The reason i think it's chocolate is because I'm pretty sure my girl left half a snickers bar in the bed of my truck the other day. She asked me if I had seen her half of a Snickers bar when we were hanging out.
I'm thinking the squirrel found it and carried it to the top of my engine so the birds couldn't get to it.

That may not be a vacuum hose you're holding in your hand, but in the first picture, you can clearly see that whatever it was, chewed the vacuum hose off of your fuel pressure regulator completely. What color are the wires inside the sleeve you are holding? And how many are in there? As far as your oil light being on, was it on when the truck was running? ( before that no start issue obviously ) It definitely looks like they were in there for a while...

You're right. There was a vaccum hose chewed in half. Yes you can see it isn't attached in the first pic, but the Black wire I'm holding in the Second pic contains Two wires. One was Red and the other I'm not sure. Also on the Second pic you can see where it connects (the White clip in the very left of the Second pic.
The oil light wasn't on before. I drove to work, no light. After work, oil light, no start.

I'm going to say that's the crank sensor wiring, (pretty sure the sensor for the oil light, only has one wire) I have a 2011 four-cylinder at the shop, I also don't have all-data here on my IPad, so I will look tomorrow, and let you know..

I may be missing something, but the oil pressure light should be on with no oil pressure. (Engine not running)

You're not missing anything, that's why asked him if the light was on when it was running.. Thing is if you have a no start condition, after 5 or 6 cranks of the engine with the starter, it would make enough oil pressure to shut off the light. (The light comes on at like 10 psi)

Well, seeing as some people on here recommend tasting antifreeze if the liquid is greenish, what could possibly go wrong if you taste the "chocolate" ..... do it and report back!!!!
