Don't you think it should be on the glass installer??? They are the one that put in the new window, and now it leaks... Have them do the freaking thing over again until they get it right...What's Toyota going to do?? Was it leaking before you replaced the window? Prob not right? It's on Safelite IMO..

This happened to a friend of mine after we drove in her 3rd gen a couple of hours a way to Tampa through a rainstorm last week. Although hers wasn't that bad, there were a couple of drops on her passenger side floor board. She still has the original windshield and less than 1,000 miles.

    yep..
Happened to me a few weeks ago. Did some research and ended up taking a piece of aluminum flashing and made a roof over the intake under the cowl while still allowing sufficient air flow. Maybe your glass isn't properly seated into the u-channel. You can open the hood and remove the cowl and inspect where the glass is sitting. Ideally rain should run down the windshield and be stopped by the seal on the outside, but if water makes it past that, it *should* fall into the u channel and drain to the sides. Unfortunately the channel is quite small so can be overwhelmed easily and spill into the cabin Intake.

Another thing to check is if your cowl drains are clogged with debris. Use a hose.

From what I've read, the u channel wants to be in place when the windshield is replaced, so proper depth/seating in the channel is achieved. If they removed all that and it's not seated, water is gushing into the body cavity down there.

Edit: all this pertains to 2nd gen, so just FYI.

Was at the dealership recently and the tech who services my Taco showed me a 16' that had the windshield replaced by an independent auto glass operation. The windshield leaked into the computer and caused erratic things to happen. Dealership replaced the computer but it wasn't covered by the warranty as is was not a Toyota issue.

Interesting. Yet another thing... I had one occurrence of getting in the truck where my passenger floor mat (luckily I recently replaced the OEM AW mats with Weathertech) and there must have been a couple of cups of water in there. It was a camping weekend and the truck had been sitting on a decline in hard rain all night. Nothing else was wet so I just went about my day however I do notice some whistling when turning the air back on after a rain but when I've checked my cabin air filter it's never been damp... frying the computer on this would be expensive....

Return ASAP. this happened after the dealer replaced our windshield on a hyundai. the weather stipping wasn't installed properly and popped off so the dealer had to put a new windshield. anyway, the first time it rained, it leaked like that and we were going to bring it in. three days later, it rained again and fried some sytems: horn, blinkers woldn't turn off. nothhing like driving 15 miles to the dealer with the horn blasting and the lights blinking. i wan't going to take the fuse out because the whoel damn thing was wet and I wasn't getting zapped. At least the dealer knew what they were dealing with when I pulled into the lot with whole car going apeshit.

Passenger side has ECU on tacoma. everytime the car shifts in/out of 4wd, there is clicking noise in the passenger side that says to me: you don't want to get passenger side wet.

Don't let SafeLife off the hook, dude. This speaks for itself. Your truck didn't leak before the window was replaced and now it does. Heck no. Make them fix this crap.

I can't consistently replicate it personally and haven't been able to see any water actually make it into my cabin air filter area nor any wet fabric on the carpet or ceiling. But when running through a car wash one day there was a small stream of water that came from the same area you called out above. Hasn't happened since. Other time was the day I found a bunch of water on my floorboard - was under trees with leaves falling all over on the truck so assume the drain was clogged and it overloaded. If it happens again, I'll be driving it straight to the dealer without cleaning any of it up.

Geez, tough luck for sure. Keep us posted and best of luck. It could be some form of a freak incident but it seems odd that you went from no leak to leak after the repair.

the glass molding doesn't do anything other than looks. if you can prove that the water is coming in through the windshield then they fucked up laying the bead or didn't fix the seams good enough on the urethane.

Agreed, you are going to be OK but this sucks. I would make sure that you get all water damage repaired correctly. Mild can be a huge issue. Hang in there!

I paid no attention to the AZ part. Scratch that! I'm thinking in good old SE USA terms! Mold chases us around...

I only bought my new Tacoma because my 1988 Toy truck had exactly this type of leak from a bad window job. It started so small I didn't notice it for years. Then I spent years trying to find the leak. Finally, I got rid of the truck because the windscreen bezel was rotted out 2/3 of the way around! Too late by then to take it back to the windscreen shop.

When I had the local Toyota-recommended glass folks come out to replace mine (Lawrence Glass) and as I watched them I heard them complain a couple of times about "why Toyota makes these such a ridiculously tight fit is beyond them..." so perhaps that "tightness" actually impacts their ability to confirm good seals around them?

If they blame the design of the vehicle for them not being able to properly install a windshield then they should not be in the auto glass business. just saying.
