Installation was surprisingly quick with both finished in about an hour. We've been using my wife's Acadia for our travel baseball journeys. Now we will be taking the taco more often.

Yes, and there is actually a fourth short panel.WP_20170503_16_33_41_Rich.jpg
the third panel can be folded up against the cab. There are three rubber bumpers on the panel to prevent damage to the cab.WP_20170503_16_35_05_Rich.jpg
There are prop rods to support the cover so the truck can be driven with the top up.WP_20170503_16_35_51_Rich.jpg WP_20170503_16_36_01_Rich.jpg
There are also straps that lock the cover down if you only wanted the back two panels open.WP_20170503_16_34_34_Rich.jpg

That looks like a great setup! I've been debating on this...

I'm not too mechanically savy... how was the install on the Pop N' Lock?

    Great work! :)

I didn't get those straps with mine :( but I have the exact same setup and I love it!

@DonJuanTaco it's not too bad. The instructions are unclear at parts but if you take your time, it's totally worth it. I'd recommend the pop&lock system that utilizes your truck key

And just a word of advice, you don't need a lot of 'key torque' to lock and unlock the tailgate. You will break it eventually if you do

There are a few YouTube videos on the installation for the BAKflip and Pop N Lock. Makes it a breeze.

I believe that it has a 300 lb. weight capacity. Not really sure if I will test it though.

    None , yet
As far as a 300 weight limit, if you need to use a stepladder, put it in the bed! After spending between $800 and 1K why test it?
BAK G2.jpg Dimples Pimples and troughs 1.jpg

To make a 6-month water drenched bed liner story short! End result is, I traded the Toy dealer installed tri fold cover back to the tonneau dealer +$100 for a BAK G2 which I installed. Also in the negotiations with the Toy dealer I received a $100 check for mileage and aggravation. 6 trips at 40 miles 1 way.

I knew the new BAK cover was going to leak and where the water was going to get in. I followed the directions and installed as per. First minor rainfall, it did leak and at the 8 spots I figured it would! Tonneau top was completely removed including the rails, rail side attachment system is OK.

I don't know what the bed rails on the older Tacoma's look like but on my 17 there are dimples/pimples and design troughs. On the G2 side rails that fit over the bed liner I laid a bead of black RTV/silicone the full length on the inside and re-installed. I also RTV'd/silicone’d the gaps at the front as well as going over the foam parts of the OEM front rail/cross bar. The two screws that hold the cover down to the rail frame front, was sealed under the rubber gaskets as well. I suggested BAK make an addendum sheet or make note in their instructions, that went well - LOL

Let it rain! After 3 major storms in the NE, the top only has several minor leaks in which I saw drips on the white nylon release bars which I believe to be from the hinge area, but very, very minor!

I did not opt for a seal for the tailgate, so far I have found only minor droplets of water or dust intrusion. Live on a dirt road…

    Other bed modifications;

Enlarge the ¼” drain holes in the bed liner front. ¼” REALLY! There is now 4 - 3/8”, “Just in case” holes.

It is amazing to have two storage compartments one on either side rear that you could keep your wet socks and sneakers WET! Once again, REALLY! Those compartments are now waterproofed and dust free! Screws had signs of rust…

That’s my story and I’m stiken to it! 96% water free, now a happy canvas camper. BAK G2 Rocks!

How did you enlarge the drain holes in the composite bed just drilled with a standard bit?
