Question. I want to paint the ugly grille on my DCOR, but I don't want to use plasti dip because i fear that the color won't match well. My truck is black and I don't want a dull black look on the grille and would rather a little more shine to be similar to truck.

Anyone have recommendations for paint or should I splurge more and try to get paint match paint to spray or can I do a plasti dip, but get more shine to it?

There are different colors of plasti that allow for a shine, plus they have clear coat plasti that is specifically to make it shine like normal paint jobs

Ya this shot it looks good, but I have seen other shots where it was a dull black and didn't look good which I was worried about.

Did mine exactly like this and it looks great, everyone thinks it's factory.
I used the black PlastiDip and then gave it a few coats of "glossifier" (aka PlastiDip clear coat).

Don't use plastidip. I used bedliner. Rustoleum makes one. Use that.

I've posted this before but didn't show what paint I used. Very happy with the results.

i used plasti dip. If you messup, just spray it with WD40 and it comes right off. no joke. i have had it on mine for about 8 months and it still looks good. did about 6 coats (1 can)

I ended up derping mine and using glossifier as well. I did 6 coats of Plasti Dip and 3 coats of glossifier. I am happy with it for the price. I think I would rather paint matched, but for the money I am super glad i did it.

There are some body supply stores and some napa stores that can mix paint (factory paint color) into a spray can. You can use single stage or 2 stage (base / clear) if you want it exactly the same as your body.

The body shop I have used to paint my Scion xB back in the day wanted 2 bills to paint the grille paint matched - I think he's over price now and I could ask other places. I think for now I'll leave it as is until I can find a grille I actually like the looks of lol

Not sweating it, I just don't want to pay 2 bills to paint a grille I ultimately don't like and will change in the future. If he said $100 I may have, but I know this is not my long term grille 'cause it's ugly lol

Thanks for the info, this will help if I want to tackle other parts of the truck like the fender flares or the front plastic part on the front bumper.
