All right, gents! After a long break I am back in the saddle! A co-worker of mine found out that I am into bikes and offered me his dual sport '06 Yamaha XT225. For free! It's been sitting in his garage un-touched for 7 years, so he asked if I wanted it. Wat. Who the fuck turns down a free bike?? It needs some work, cylinder base gasket is leaking but other than that it runs like a champ. I put air in the tires, charged the battery and after a couple of cranks it started right up. With 7 year old gas and oil. Obviously, I am not going to ride it like that, but I just wanted to see if it runs.

Me too. Both are solid bikes. I have the Yamaha really well dialed in. The Kawi is still pretty new and is still stock. Suspension setup will be the next step with this bike. The guy who did my Yamaha did an excellent job and I will be going with him for the KX.

Good stuff. The YZ has epic suspension to begin with. If your guy got your KYB stuff dialed in on that bike, it is tough to beat. I heard the fork on that Kawi is a little tough to figure out. That is a super-trick air fork but I'm not an air fork guy. Hopefully you get it to where you like it. Still, I love KX450s.

Yeah, the KYB forks on the Yamaha are excellent. It's amazing how plush they are and yet resist bottoming without feeling harsh.

The Showa SFF TAC is actually pretty good as well from my experience. It took some playing around to get a setting I like, but so far I'm happy with them. I originally planned a spring conversion, but have decided to just go with a revalve for now. There is a conversion to put KYB SSS internals in the Showa fork, and that might be what I do down the road. But it's kinda pricey.

If only I still had mine.. Wrecked it in high school and got second degree burns on the inside of my legs. Didn't ride for about a year and then first time out wrecked again. Decided it just wasn't meant to be.

Ya every Yamaha I've owned with the SSS Fork has been pretty awesome. The only one that needed worked right from the showroom floor was the '10 YZ250F. But after I got that all dialed in, it was magic, like all of the others.

I've only ridden bikes a few times with the Showa SFF TAC. It's just different, but not bad. I was in the pits with my buddy at HP pro race over the weekend and I was watching our friend (his mechanic) set up those forks on his RMZ. Just way too involved for me lol. And ya, I know people were doing spring conversions on those forks but man, I can't imagine spending that cash after buying a new 450. Especially since the SFF TAC is basically a slightly milder version of what RV was running on his factory 450 a couple years ago lol. It's pretty trick stuff, so I'd just roll with it as-is, unless I hated it. Hopefully you guys can just set it up as-is and be good to go. You got 2 sweet bikes though, man.

2014 KTM 450sxf with 4.8 hours on her picked up off a great friend. Still have the Yamaha (and will forever) with 150 hours on her but it was a deal of a lifetime I had to jump on. Already added a little bling, numbers, radiator braces/cages, hand guards, and a few other things. Only one ride so far and shes great

    Looks great. Enjoy

Yep and it's not even close. The new Suzukis look incredible. I was in love with them as soon as I saw the '18 450. Almost got one but went in another direction for various reasons. But I'd still rock a new Zuk w/o hesitation.
