Wife's 250ex, 450lb wet. My yz250,210lb wet. 200 pound generator. It'll also act as a travel trailer for as many trips as toy hauling, I suspect. Big ass air conditioner and camp ground power should help with that

The 7kW constant generator is Hella overkill, but the Costco sale price is too good to pass up right now

Trailer's about 2k, Ranger 1500 dry. Not bad. Brake controller would be nice but don't have one.

Just used this trailer to tow this car from Gulfport, MS to a car show Petersburg, VA. Trailer weighs in at 1900 lbs and the car is about the same weight. Used the P3 brake controller and a weight distribution hitch. Monitored gas mileage (16.1 mpg) and transmission fluid temperatures (normally 198 with a momentary high of 210). For the most part I left the transmission in D and occasionally (when bored) switched to S. I love this truck!

It's a 1949 MGTC (or was). It was a total basketcase so it was easier to build it this way than stock. And yes, the trailer is awesome...lightweight and tracks like a dream.

Hey guys, fairly new taco owner here 2017 dbl cab offroad. I've been going thru the thread here on towing. I'm renting a trailer that has a dry weight of 6400, I'd be a complete moron for trying to tow something like that? plus i've never really towed anything.. i did order a p3 brake controller. Gonna see if i can change my reservation to a unit that has a DW of 4800.

Yes, that's your maximum weight. I wouldn't tow that

I'm with everyone else on this. I wouldn't tow that, especially given you're totally new to towing.

Maybe I'd move something that heavy around my yard, but not for any distance at all.

Get a smaller trailer and practice reversing.

My 21' Apex Nano pulled great on a 1,400 mile trip in Michigan's Upper Penninsula. 3,600 dry, likely ~4,600 wet. 25' hitch to tail. Stock trans cooler for now with the thermostat pinned.

So from my first real trip towing our pop up camper, plus a bunch of stuff in the bed. Trailer's base weight is about 2000 lbs.

Combined MPG was 15 - 13.5 on the way there and 16.5 on the way back. The way there is a lot of uphill high altitude mountain passes. The way back has some too but more downhill.

I was mostly in S3-S4. Had to be in S3 up the steep grades. Truck would max out at about 55 MPH in S3 up the worst which is a 6% grade at over 11,000 feet elevation. So all in all I feel it did pretty well. The downside to Colorado is all the steep hills for getting anywhere. I think I could get 18MPG easy on flat land towing that trailer, which seems pretty dang good to me.

Sorry terrible picture of the trailer but I was pulling about a 3,600 lb boat up and down hill and was actually very impressed with how it towed. I had an F-150 before this and it tows very similarly

Did you ever stop and hand test the tranny cooler? I did this a few times on my last trip with about a 1000 pounds in the bed and it was never more than 20F over ambient

I'm going to install the Hayden 679 before our trailer gets built. No fan, just the cooler

It's made by Montrose Trailers in Montrose, OH. It doesn't expand but opens front, rear and both sides. There's a number of configurations that you can choose from...since I have both a righthand drive and a lefthand drive British car the side openings let me get in and out easily.
