It will depend on the turbo size. Mine doesn't start to audibly spool up until around 2-2.5k rpms :notsure:.

    Yup.

For myself, I alway notice that driving with the turbo on, makes for easier acceleration, with less throttle input.

Good, getting tired of downshifting for a hill.

    At 60mph I'm around 2500rpm, I'm hoping to get a bw 54mm with a .63 a/r

I definately notice better power in the mountains but I think a lot of that is the better breathing exhaust and intake. Still had to use OD OFF a few times to keep from baking my transmission (trans locks up at 55mph in 3rd gear with OD OFF btw).

But the better answer to that problem is a gear job. I'm seriously thinking about 4.88's in the next year. Possible 35's to follow.

I rarely downshift on hills now. It's Usually only if I'm at higher elevations of 7000+ ft. Before my little 2.7 was always needing a downshift.

My gearing is 4.88 w 33's so I'm at 3000 at 70-75 mph. It gets into a couple pounds of boost very quickly

Have you checked your gas mileage since then? Seems like it'd use more but all Toyotas run high rpms on the rd

On the freeway I get 20-21, in town is a little less. It's about the same as when I was all motor w 31's and 3.90 gears, but with way more power. Those numbers are when I had the pinks and stock ecu running things. I haven't tuned or driven enough yet with the MS and 550's to compare the difference.

With my 265s and 4.30s I'm at 75mph at 3k. Wanting to put on 285s cause my truck is mostly on highway

That is in 5th gear. With my W59 manual transmission that is 0.85:1. Your auto trans it closer to 0.71, IIRC, lowering your RPM's at cruising HWY speeds.

If you are going to 35s, anything but 5.29s is a mistake ESPECIALLY with you're stupid slush box tranny.

And you should manual swap it before even thinking about 35s. You don't offroad so why bother with 35s :p :luvya:

How do you like that oil? I saw at Walmart today the they have the 0W-40 for $25 for 5 qts. I thought about trying it out. I've been using Mobile1 5-30.

I have a predicament....instead of trying to stuff an intercooler in the grill I could sell my shrockworks and winch to get a tube bumper.

I dont really like the open concept of a tube bumper but I could add some filler plate around the intercooler so it isn't as "open" but it will most likely have headlight protection cause that's what saved my truck before
