Craigslist Scams

I just got a new fridge yesterday because the old one's condenser or something went out.

Basically something is wrong with it that I couldn't wait to have a repair dude come but it's not totally FUBAR.

Really considering putting it up on CL but I'm already dreading the responses...

"Can you deliver it?"
"Pay me 20 bucks and I'll pick it up for you."
"I have a bus token, some pocket lint and a half a stick of gum... that's a fair price, you should take it!"

 

I have 2 dollars and a Casio wrist watch. You can have 1 of those.

 

Put it out on the sidewalk with a sign on it that says, "$200". It'll be gone in the morning. If you put, "Free" on it, they won't take it.

I love craigslist. Sell and buy a lot on here.
Public locations and if someone sounds sketchy deal gets cancelled.

I sold a Samsung tablet to what appeared to be a Hospital Doctor on his way to work. I reset the tablet and verified 100% function. Battery life rundown was like 5 hours at 100% brightness.

2 days after the sale the guy emails me and says the battery dies quick. I told him I tested the battery and it was good. He explained he took it to work in AM and by nightime the battery was almost depleted.

He told me it was dropping 1% power every 4-5 minutes when he waa using it. That still is like 6 hours. I was like I sold it as is but I don't want to burn anyone. Replacement battery is like $10 and easy fix.

He then changed his tune and said he will keep it. Not sure what his intentions were. Never heard from the guy again.

 

Definitely dibs on the watch...

Telling that story had me reminiscing a bit, and wondered what happened to my Duc. So I dug up the old Craigslist email and sent a message to the dude. Minutes later he calls and says he rode her for 38k miles when some kid mad a left against a red in front of him. Bike was totaled and junked.

Today he swings by the house and leaves this...





Guess he wasn't all that bad of a dude

BUYER BEWARE!!! This guy's name is Brandon BOLTON (804-837-2796) Richmond, Virginia, not sure if he's on this forum (if he is, i'd loved to punch him in the face). Drove 6 hours due to traffic to look at the cap and when i got there he blocked my number and took down the Craigslist posting. Now it's back up again. I found him on Facebook and called him out and he blocked me on there as well. He should be glad we didn't meet cuz i was packing heat (if he would've tried to rob me)!

 

That sucks!

On a side note, the french doors I delivered 1.5 hours away couldn't have gone better. She was extremely nice and very thankful I delivered that far. And while the girl was shoe shopping (I only spend $27 ) I got a Facebook message about the brush guard I was selling. Drove home and sold that as well.

 

Not cool, almost drove 14hrs for a used ARE Mx with walk-in door on craigslist, think twice before backing out because of concern like this.

 

I drove 17 hours to pick up my MX. Lucky for me it was not a scam. Gave the guy a 12 pack of Spotted Cow for not being a dick.

 

I was talking to a guy on Facebook market place about a cap. He was located about 3 hrs away from me. Told me the cap was in perfect condition. I told him how far I was driving so I just wanted to make sure it was decent.
I luckily had another location of my company located 20 mins away from his location, so I got the manager to go check it out.
Cap was VERY fucked up with deep gouges into the fiberglass, and scratches. The windows were all spraypainted black as well.
I was very happy I had a friend to help me out. When I called the guy about the misrepresenting the condition he said"what do you want for used".

 

And you would have done what with it? Flashed it and put yourself in jail when he called the cops? Not what guns are for, son. I was sympathetic until you added that part.

 

As a gun owner I have one request. Please sell all of your guns. The last thing our community needs is hot heads like you threatening people or talking about threatening people with them over something that absolutely doesn't warrant it. In fact people like you are why I sometimes carry a gun.

 

I suspect he is just an internet warrior.
