It's a campaign that started in 2014. Effectively the lawsuit just prompted Toyota to do what it was already doing three years ago. Only difference is the 2009 and 2010 model year trucks will be included now. And the treatment you get from dealers and Toyota will be the same after the lawsuit settlement as before.

Yes, it is the one that ended on 3/31/2016. The Brian Warner et al v. Toyota USA class action was filed on 3/24/2015 and could very well have been established in anticipation of the LSC-E0D expiration. They are nonetheless distinct and different activities; but as you said the quality of the service will be the same dependent on the quality and integrity of the dealership.

My experience has been that the huge multi-lot "absentee owner" dealers are the worst...

This is the most confusing crap ever. I just want to get my frame officially inspected. Just had my recall springs replaced last week, and they said my frame looked bad, but they were told to wait for the settlement. So is that not the case?

That is the "case" (no pun intended). But now these appeals--first I have ever heard* of "after numerous hearings and a final order" appeals to an of a out-of-court settlement being allowed--everything is on hold again. All that can be done now is to wait it out...

So I called a customer service rep at Toyota yesterday. Apparently the "decision" was disseminated to dealers on Monday afternoon, and letters are being mailed out to the address you have linked to your vehicle's title. The results of the class-action are similar to the Limited Service Campaign that expired in March 2016. One thing he did note, however, was that their version of the legal technicalities did not have any ownership stipulations-- i.e. they don't care if you didn't own the truck before December 2016. This is particularly helpful for people like me, who've purchased a used 2nd gen after December 2016.

I tried calling the Toyota service number and just got a recording pointing to the frame settlement website. Did the customer service rep you talked to give any indication of when the letters would be going out or when the service program would actually start? My 05 is definitely a candidate for a new frame. Thanks.

Thanks for the offer, but I just found the letter on another thread. Looks like they're finally taking care of the problem.

Sorry for thread revival but i have some questions. Hey @Tybee Taco (and anyone else) im looking for any new info you might have. Im in the same boat. Purchased truck in December of 2018 after the Dec 2016 cutoff. Frame was inspected passed and sprayed under previous owner, but now looks awful. I have some holes greater than 10mm and know i would be approved for replacement. I am still within the 12 years since the date of first use.
Based on the official settlement website, it seems like The Dec 16th cutoff was the defining factor and i am not entitled to any benefits. But after reading through many forum threads, it sounds like the Dec 2016 cutoff doesn't matter anymore.

So im just looking for anyone with personal experience similar to mine that could provide some further clarification and info, especially @Tybee Taco
    Thanks all.

You're not looking at the latest info on rusty frames. There was a Warranty Extension issued as a result of a lawsuit. It's abbreviated WEP. All 2005-20010 Tacos were covered till January 2019. After that, 2005-2010 Tacos are covered for 12 years from date of 1st use. If you have a 10mm rust hole you will definitely get approved for a frame as long as you get it inspected within the 12 years. 1 more thing, if your truck was originally sold new in Canada, you must go to Canada for a frame inspection and replacement.

If you do a thread search for WEP, you will find more recent info.

Thank you very much @Muddinfun. I appreciate your direct and courteous answer. That will be useful for myself as well as any others reading this thread in the future. Although time is slowly ticking away
I'll do some more research into WEP. Although sounds like just scheduling an inspection will be my next best bet.
    Cheers and thanks again.
