Hi, good luck on your new truck.....I would get a set of gauges and see if there is r34 in the system, a lack of gas could be the problem also leak check system.
    Please keep us informed.

If the system does not have refrigerant the compressor will not kick on.
you might have a leak, or maybe someone had emptied the system to fix something and never recharged it?
checking fuses is always the first and easiest thing

    Private purchase or lot?

If lot, any warranty? 30 days or something?

Did it work on the test drive?

I'd get an inexpensive recharge kit, there's one for about 20 bucks that comes with the gauge and hose. Or, if you're serious about it and am the kind of person who buys something once of good quality, get a decent gauge and hose because the 20 dollar one will last for about 4 fills and then fall apart. The point of the cheap one being, if you recharge it (which is simple, directions on the kit) and you have good cold air, you may have a leak in the system. Or not...

Case in point, my 04 Sequoia just needed a charge last June and the AC still works fine now. My 95 Honda Accord (which the Tacoma replaced) needed a charge about once a month as there's a slow leak. However, I knew it was headed to that great boneyard in the sky after this past winter (which it is...but it's still in my driveway as of now) and wasn't about to put much into it.

Does the ac light blink by chance? If so the ac relay is the culprit. $15 and located under hood

The blinking light can also indicate the speed/rpm sensor is bad in the compressor

I've said it before and ill say it again
    Things needed.
    High side pressure
    Low side pressure
    Ambient air temperature.
    Duct temperature
Come back with these things and I can help. Don't buy one of those ac suicide charge kits. You don't know how much is in the system. Get it properly evacuated and recharged by a shop if you don't have a recovery unit. Those fill it yourself cans do more harm than good
