Long ass day. Got my new leafs in tho. Had to go get a cut off wheel for my grinder, that took a bit because I stopped for a burrito. Then while I was eating my boss called me had to run to reno to pick up a truck. All in all it wasnt to hard. Center pins seemed like it would be hard but got the axel dropped just enough to get them in. The brake lines where just at the right lenght. Truck seems to ride nice. Left the over load spring in there and seem to have got around 2 inch lift. Feels good, can see over the hood, def not leaning back. Very pleased. Just hope it all holds up. Will retorque the ubolts after some miles.

Hello my name is Eddie. Been lurking for a while. I'm from So Cal. But I'm headed up there tomorrow for a week to meet with a Realtor to look at some houses. Would be great to meet up and meet some of you guys. I'll be moving up permanently in the middle of July. Looking for houses in the south west part of Reno or up in sparks just north of the 80. I do love to go off-roading and am looking forward to living in that area where so much is right there in your backyard.

My son and I having some fun.

Give a wave of you see me around in the future.

I will be in the wife's 4runner for the trip(way better gas mileage).

I live in the Sparks area you are speaking of. Spanish Springs area. I love it out here. Its close to tons of shopping. I wanna say the houses are cheaper out here than they are in the area of Reno you are looking at.

Not a great time to buy a house up here. But if you're coming from CA then the prices might not look so bad.

It's better to buy now before Tesla is all finished up out there. I've heard that the house prices will be climbing again because of the housing demand for all the new Tesla/Panasonic employees.
We will be driving around this week to look at different areas and see a couple of different houses. Thanks for the help.

Do you guys ever meet up at a brewery or something? A handful of us would meet up every Thursday at a local brewery and just bullshit for the night and talk about our trucks or whatever. Fun times. Good escape. For the night from the kids and wife.

    Hi @MotoEd , I'm in SW Reno (Midtown/hipsterville).

Pros and cons to the area but I really like it here...plenty of great restaurants and bars that are walking distance and deals can be made on homes if you're willing to pick up a project. Downside is walking distance from downtown means there is sometimes undesirable foot traffic. Make sure you look into the quality of the school in the neighborhoods your looking at because some of the schools struggle.

Same, way up Vista for us. Sucks sometimes cuz the Mrs. works on the south side of town. I work out of our downtown office and have no real commute complaints. Will probably change in the winter though.

Thank you much. Yes the school is a major requirement for where we will be looking. My wife has a cousin that lives in the s/w Reno area that is a counselor in the school district and her husband is a principal at one of the elementary schools.

My wife is a teacher at a title 1 school in a crappy neighborhood and we have several friends in administration for the district....sounds like you have connections to make sure you end up in a neighborhood that is zoned for a good school but if you have any questions PM me.

I think it's going to get a lot worse given the way they're scrambling to jack up every tax imaginable. My countdown clock has started.

My opinion is that anyone is welcome here as long as they bring something to the region. I'm a NorCal transplant :anonymous: who ended up here because my wife kept getting a pink slip every year as a teacher in CA...she was always kept on but the stress every year was complete bullshit. At the time WCSD was hurting for teachers and she found a good fit here.

That was in 2007, I followed her up here in 2009 and was happy to get away from CA taxes and the crazy bay area housing market. Here I can afford to raise a family while actually having a quality of life balance that wasn't going to happen in CA.

Unfortunately, unless our elected officials start making some changes, we are going to be in a world of hurt in 10 years when our existing infrastructure, which is already insufficient or in poor repair, is inadequate for their projected population growth. I also think we are going to have major water issues with the projected growth and that developers are not doing any favors when it comes to the increased burden on communities from new housing projects (there are some changes here but we have decades of catching up to do).

Pretty much to be able to afford to live. My wife works in a hospital as a registered dietitian and I work in the repair field repairing CNC mills and such. Right now we make enough to stay and buy a house in socal but we would be eating top ramen every night for dinner. We both are over the whole California scene. All in all we just don't want to live in California anymore. Up here in Reno we can afford to live and have a comfortable life raising our kids. Also a major factor is I don't have to fear that I will be arrested because I am a felon, because I own a certain type of firearm that a year ago was completely legal to own.

Reno just made sense for us to relocate to. It's still with in driving distance to go back and visit family and friends. The weather is manageable unlike Phoenix or Colorado (our other choices). We already have family and several friends who live here. The list goes on.
