So I kept having issues with my truck just falling on its face and throttle going out completely and having to restart it to make it run again. Codes I had were for TPS, MAF and Accelerator pedal but at random times. Anyway first I had a code for TPS, replaced it and still had it come on randomly which was ODD, then out of no where I had the Accelerator pedal code come on which was odd because it never came on before. My final conclusion is this Throttle By Wire system got some serious issues, in the end it turned out to be my pedal when I ordered a new one it came with a slightly different and updated part number and now so far my truck has had no cut outs, no RPM hang ups and is actually hauling ass.

    Mods
    TRD supercharger
    Volant Intake
    Exhaust

I am posting this because I know I seen a lot of people with similar issues and no one could figure it out. If I have issues again it will be due to the ECU or the wiring but for now I'm happy to have a truck that hauls ass.

    A thing or two...
This is the first time I've heard of accelerator pedal problems in a tacoma. I had an L-series Saturn before my truck, and the throttle-by-wire was crap. I had to replace the pedal twice in the 3.5 years I had it.

I have been dealing with an intermittent loss of power (engine still running) for approx 1-2 seconds. The best way I can describe it, imagine your foot slipping off the gas pedal. This does not happen all the time and when accelerating easy to moderate. Most recent occurrence I was merging from a highway off-ramp to a 55 mph road and I went to accelerate and the truck stopped accelerating. I can go days without it happening. My Tacoma is a 2008 with 62k miles with the 6 cylinder.

Where you experiencing the same issues as I am?

I also forgot to include I am also having an intermittent ABS light illuminating on the dash. I restart the vehicle and the ABS lights does not illuminate on the dash. I need to find a scanner to look for codes. I am thinking the ABS light maybe connected with the loss of power. I have started driving the Tacoma more since I have a work vehicle. On the last occurrence after the throttle loss the ABS light came on. Previous times the throttle loss appeared the ABS light did not illuminate. The more I keep researching I think I may try replacing the brake light switch. I have read another forum member replaced his brake light switch and that fixed his problem with acceleration issues similar to mine.

I have a 2000 Tacoma was my dad's he bought it when it had 3 miles on it. He passed away 5 years ago and I have his truck now. I have had it do the same thing lack of power when my foot is on the pedal. It would almost die going around a corner. I changed the spark plugs and it fixed it but it still will lose power like sluggish like your foot slips off the pedal. No codes? And my fule filter is in my tank? It's a base model is what I'm told but if I look my vin up it says tdr off road? It has the 2.7 litter in it? And suggestions? I love my truck.

So code came back for the throttle seams it only happens when it's cold out. Time to trouble shoot the ECM

Had a Nissan Hardbody in the 90's. Had what sounds like the same issue. After months of it I finally had enough and took it to the dealer. They shafted me, claiming it was the fuel injectors (which I forked out the whopping $800 they charged me to have them replaced). Same issue continued for another few months and then I finally figured out the true source... it was a faulty fuel pump relay the whole time.

Really? What's aggravating is it won't throw a true code. First it threw one for TPS so I replaced it when replaced that it started to throw one for pedal, maybe it is a fuel issue I do have a TRD supercharger with stock fuel system. The odd thing is only does it when it's cold outside

2009 supercharged. Just got a p2121, so random but I'm going to try something and see. Just filled up and going to see if maybe it's fuel issue sense last night I was low on fuel when it did it.

Have no clue everything is pointing to ECU and just trying to avoid that

Since you replaced the throttle body and accelerator pedal already, double check the wiring and connectors.
Also, did you use an OEM throttle body or aftermarket/rebuilt?

Have you checked the brake light switch to make sure it's working properly? I have had them get worn before and if the ecu thinks you're trying to brake and accelerate at the same time it'll cause all sorts of weird issues.

Dang it man, I have not.

It works fine when the ABS light is not on (which is basically always)

But for whatever reason that light comes on in the dash, the brake light wont work.

I don't have a supercharger but my 2009 had a similar issue with no throttle response, sputtering, and / or complete stall. Thought it was bad gas, cleaned the MAF, and engine treatments. Dealership thought I was crazy, finally they experience it for themselves. Ended up being the ecu.

Yeah I think it's the ecu now. It was fine for two weeks after I changed the pedal and now it's back and doing it everyday. Really annoying.

You couldn't just reflash? Or was it actually just a bad ecm?
